ISU possibly to CBI?

Hey, any game experience we can get is good, plus it would allow us to practice longer.

I'd take it.

It will be another thing GMac has done that neither JO, TF, LE, or WM did (take that haters....LOL)

Bring on the CBI!

So does this mean we should still be holding onto our 09-10 parking passes? lol

We'd be a decent choice from a revenue\attendance standpoint. Even with our recent attendance drop, we still bring out a lot more attendance than similar-record schools would.

I've heard from previous threads that the Big 12 discourages teams from participating. Same with the Big 10. Don't know if that's true though. Also, by looking at the two previous and only years, no Big 12 or Big 10 teams have played in the CBI.

I believe to make the CBI, like the NIT, you need a .500 record or better. That would mean we would have to go 2-1 in the Big XII Tournament (make the semi-finals) and that would be take a miracle.

To answer my own question, Oregon State was in the field last year at 13-16. So I guess record isn't overly important, as long as you're CLOSE to .500.

And the games are held at participant's venues.

Also, it appears that the championship is held on a 3-game series basis. Interesting. One game at one team's venue, one at the other, then back to the first for the decisive Game 3 if necessary.

FML if we can't even get into the CBI.

Yes, more practice never hurts.

IMO the CBI is more for the mid-majors that don't get in but have a good record. I think major conferences shy away from that tournament. I know Michigan has said they are not interested and they are below .500 right now. I don't think they would come out and say that if they hadn't even qualified yet.

OK, thanks for clarifying. I would say if we beat Texas they would want us. IMO we should take it because of the practice.

Wouldn't meet anyone's expectations to play in the CBI, but I agree with cyismydog, it would be good to get some more practice time and if we do well it would be nice to have some momentum heading into next season

If we get an invite, I think we should absolutely take it.

If that's the case, screw the big 12. If they want to write us a check equal to the benefits we could get from hosting home games in this tournament, fine, we'll refuse the invitation if given.

We're poor. If we get an invite, we take it.
