....even after winning the B12 tourney, and I THINK IT IS GREAT.

I am bit surprised how little attention the B12 tournament received from national sports writers. It seems as soon as Kansas lost the attention went elsewhere. Looking through various twitter feeds from national NCAAB writers not many ISU mentions considering they won a Big 6 tournament.

Anybody else notice this? It could also be who I follow and the way that I consume NCAA basketball media/news too.

With Duke beating UNC and peaking at right time, the story lines of Michigan and Northwestern in the B10, the top teams in the PAC12 going at each other, and murmurs of Villanova repeating- I cannot say I am surprised about the lack of national attention.

ISU just seems a bit under-the-radar compared to previous seasons. I don't know if it really matters because this group seems extremely locked in, but I think being a bit sneaky and ignored could be quite favorable moving forward.

ISU just has a lot to prove yet. There are a lot of big, physical basketball teams out there that can give the Clones fits on the boards and in the post. I am a huge fan of what Prohm has been able to do with these guys, but long, athletic teams are going to make it hard to get open shots from outside, and there is still not a lot going on inside. Hustle, shooting well, and getting turnovers to counter getting beat on the boards is where things need to happen for ISU.

Really impressed that they seemed to have something left in the tank to finish the Big 12 tourney. It also helps that there seems to be some serviceable backups now.

This group is finally getting this figured out. They out rebounded all three teams they played in the tournament.

completely agree, saw a lot more fighting for the boards in the Big 12 tourney. It seems like a lot of times ISU was in position for rebound, but they just didn't get physical to get them. There is a lot of crap that doesn't get called under the basket, and sometimes teams just need to shove back.

I kinda noticed this, too. But when you're in KC at the games, you don't get to hear the half-time shows/discussion etc. Never bought a KCStar down there either. But, yeah, KU losing does take some press away I think. One channel on the way home talked more about WV and how their pressing is a gimmick and that they can't win unless they turn people over, more than praising us. But whatever. Hopefully we can make more noise going forward. Anyone on here watch the games on TV? What were some of the analysts praises?

I don't know Baylor is pretty long and athletic and we did pretty well against them. As long as we have a threat inside like Young it helps

Agreed, and also people forget that in non-conference play, ISU had better offensive and defensive rebounding rates than all of their opponents other than Cincinnati and Nebraska-Omaha- meaning they outrebounded very respectful rebounding teams like Gonzaga, Iowa, and Miami-FL.

I would think a lot of the rebounding woes during B12 play were constantly changing front court lineups and a concerted focus & effort to improve on the offensive end.

Their ability to grind games out on the defensive end early in the season gives me some optimism too if 3s are not falling.

We're rebounding better and defending better. Very pleased with how active we were on defense and crashing the boards against WVU last night. Its true that big, long, athletic teams give this team a lot of trouble but we do have the distinct advantage of having played Baylor twice and beat them once, beat Kansas State twice, and played WVU three times. All physical, big, athletic teams that play good defense. So these guys know they can win those games if they do their thing. Sure would be nice to get a favorable draw into the second weekend of the tourney. Couldn't agree more that I prefer to be outside of the national consciousness. Lets not forget 2 years ago when we we're a sexy elite 8/final 4 pick in a lot of the media... We are in as good of a position as anybody to make a run this year. LETS GO CUT SOME MORE NETS!

Some may find this blasphemous, but I would argue this 2017 is better than that 2015 team.

Better offense, similar defensive points/possession, better 3 point shooting, more scoring chances primarily from creating turnovers, experience, and most importantly to me, team chemistry.

I am glad that the Cyclones have been improving as a TEAM seemingly in every game since oddly losing to Texas. I am also glad the national pundits are relatively quiet right now. It is a great time to be a Cyclone BB fan!

One of the benefits of playing in the B12 is getting multiple games verity of styles of play. Games against the press (WV), zone (Baylor), talented guard orientated (OSU, KU), and post and defense driven teams TCU,KSU, and TT) and even Texas as elite talent. The advantage of playing the teams learning from the mistakes and incorportating the fixes for the rematch should prepare ISU for any match up. ISU's performance in the second wave of games and the tourney was very good.

Classic letdown game. It wasn't off at all.

This team has not got much respect all year. Even Vegas and the computer rankings have not been high on ISU.
