Is there any effort or any discussion about reviving the Men's Baseball program at ISU. I hope there is. I don't feel we're a completely well rounded Big12 program without it. IMO.

No because nobody went to the games. Nobody supported it. Nobody cared we had a team until it was gone. So I say keep it gone and use that money for the big 2. Football and basketball.

This has been discussed several times in the past few months...

So does this mean that Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M aren't well rounded Big XII programs since they don't have wrestling??

Some, but there is a definite conspiracy by the 10 people who want bb to return to post such a question on one of the Cyclone boards each week to creat the impression that there is a groundswell. Question back to you. KU and KSU wrestling! Is it still offered in high school. How can they be a legitimate Big 12 school without wrestling?

So, do they still play HS baseball in Iowa?

BTW, The big12 has men's Baseball.

Why do they play boys HS soccer??

I guess since they don't have soccer and baseball at Iowa State, we had better stop playing it at the HS level in Iowa.

Do they have wrestling in Texas HS's??? If so, why don't the Texas schools have wrestling programs? The Big XII has Wrestling.

If there has been discussion on the board, I am sorry I've missed it. I do not wish to stir the pot if its already been stirred.

I was actually wondering if there is any interest or consideration in the Athletic Department - rather than interest by the posters.

I feel the need to justify the well-rounded comment (I did not say legitimate). There are 10 out of 12 B12 schools with Mens baseball. Only 5 of 12 have Wrestling. The majority of Big12 schools have a baseball team and the majority of Big12 teams do not have a wrestling. The well rounded intention plays to the majority of the conference.

TFEUXCAKS,

The problem is that everyone keeps asking about baseball but nobody was even willing to go when it was around. I don't even know where the baseball field was to be quite honest with you. I am a huge baseball guy but if it can't support itself then there is no need for it. Don't get me started on some of the other sports that basketball and football support.

I have a great idea. Admins, create an ISU Baseball forum and the 10 people who care can discuss it ad nauseam! Forum threads shouldn't show up on the "Recent Threads" section on the top of the home page though.

I still don't know why KSU and KU don't have wrestling since in is big at least in eastern kansas. I know a good group of people would like to see baseball come back but it is hard with the weather in Iowa just being three hours south like MU and KU helps out big time. It wouls be nice to bring back the men's sports that were lost especially men's swimming and gymnastics since they were consistantly good. I would also like to see Hockey maybe move up but I just don't think that ISU has the money to support any of them and until football gets excluded from title 9 rule they just can't. I didn't care for baseball when I was at ISU because I didn't think the games were interesting and a lot of the players were down right a-holes when they had no right to be.

Don't you think the fact that people didn't know where the field was had something to do with poor support? If ISU had just smidge of support it could definately be successful... Not to mention playing in the best baseball conference in the country... Baseball is the second biggest D1 sport behind basketball. There are what, a few dozen wrestling teams? A couple dozen hockey teams?

GOD...Please let this issue DIE! No there is no reason to revive the baseball team. Just to say we have one is not a reason. Get over it baseball is gone!

I agree with whoever suggested having a baseball forum, although it won't work because no one will use it, so the people who have have been beating this dead horse will come back here......

I can understand the disgust of some that this topic keeps coming up. When I went to ISU there was a baseball team and I didn't go to a single game. This wasn't because I am not interested in baseball, but that the team in general created no enthusiasm on campus. I currently live in Corvallis, OR, home of the Oregon State Beavers and last years national championship baseball team. While the OSU team did have a good following to begin with the last several years, it is nothing like it is now. They have added onto the stadium and every seat is full!!! It comes down to one simple fact; Just win baby!!!

There wasn't a big interest on campus because the athletic department NEVER PROMOTED IT (at least during the time I was there '97-'03, also the time period when it was killed). I actually didn't even know where the stadium was located until AFTER Hacksaw Vandevelde killed it. About the only things I knew about it was it was we weren't very good. Actually, in the history of most ISU sports, that same thing can be said - we're not very good. However, if JP decides to bring it back, he won't do it halfway - he'll make sure it's a rousing success AND he'll make sure everyone in Ames is aware of the baseball team. That's why I'm in support of bringing the team back during JP's watch - he'll do it the right way and it'll be successful.
