ISU lands Purdue Transfer

Two additions that should provide at least decent depth. Great to have them. Looks like the transfer has 3 years left.

Did he wrestle this year at all? If he did, any idea how he performed?

6-2 in opens. Only ranked match was an 0-3 loss to DiJulius.

Who do we have starting at 133 next year? Will Boston be dropping back down, or is this new transfer the likely starter?

Simmons, Boston, or maybe Earl if he gets his year back

I'd hope they make a call between Simmons and Boston now so the other can bulk up to 141 unless they have other plans for a 141 starter. Waiting until wrestle offs in November seems late.

If we get Earl for one more that would be NICE.

Recruiting is starting to take a couple more steps up. Hopefully we keep improving in the room also. Seem to be stuck just outside the top ten. With earl we would have to have a great chance to get.there this year.

This is what I have for next year's scholarship chart at this point.

Yeah, none of these new guys are people I expect to be AAs, or even necessarily ever be varsity (which makes since given that this time of year it is mostly guys announcing that they'll be walking on). But we're getting good depth for the room. Which is huge. Especially at the lower weights where we only have one coach and no CWC guys.

I'm sure the coaches have talked to every wrestler and discuss maybe the best weight but with so many things up in the air it would be impossible to try to set a line-up now. I think they would like to see Simmons maybe give 125 a go but they will wait to see how much he weighs after summer. Marmolego will also be an option at 125 next season. Boston will be 133/141 depending on Hall and beating Simmons. Also hearing there may be a wildcard added to the team this summer that could contend for a spot at 141/149. You still have Meeks and Dante as options for 141. Not everyone is going to make the line-up. The following year could be almost worse with Gomez probably being the 125 and then Marmolego, Simmons, Parker, Storrs, Boston, Briceno and maybe the wildcard for 133-149. Not to mention RSR could go 149. Also, Shaw is 157 and Logan will probably move up to 165.

What is your guess at 165 for next year? That looks to be a little more uncertain possibly. 133-149 may be still open, but we have a good idea who is possible.

Unless Spoon goes down to 165 (which I haven't heard anything about, aside from speculation on here) I'd think RRS or Breitenbach would be the guy at 165.

Agree, think Dante is a 149 pounder, think Logan is a 165 pounder, Chase Straw will push for 157 or 165

You have me curious. Beitz of Penn State is coming off a redshirt and a senior and probably won't get ahead of Retherford or Nolf, but he would be 149/157. I have not heard any word of him transferring

Think cael lets one of his come to us?

Note on Marmolejo: He was the only wrestler to score on Earl Hall at University Nationals last summer :wideeyed:

I've never got the impression Cael actively carries any ill will towards ISU. I doubt he pushes anybody towards us, but if a grad transfer wants to come here I don't think he'd try to prevent it.
