ISU is the lowest ranked BCS school

107 out of 119 from collegefootballnews.com. I don't think that we were ranked this low even in 1994. We REALLY need a win against Iowa.

Sagarin has us at #137. That is lower than #105 from last year. In 2003 we did win more games with a similar schedule. Maybe we did Dan a favor as his group is looking good down by his retirement home.

The talent is there. There was even talk about a possible bowl after the first game from impartial journalists. I keep hearing excuses: its not HIS players, its a new system, etc. These are all excuses for a 5-7 season. Not total collapse.

Cycloneinmonaco, I tried to stay away from your posts... But please unplug your computer and walk away. You make no sense. One minute its fire the coach, the next minute he's still a God.

Seriously I hate to be like this. You change your mind more times in one day then I change underwear, and yes I do change them at least once a day.

Post one of these, I dare you. Nobody said that about ISU this year at all and it is a complete lie. Seriously, one link.

The talent is there at the glamorous positions (WR, RB, and I'd even throw in the QB, LB), that I don't dispute.

But the talent isn't there in the trenches (O-line and D-line) where the real work is done. This lack of talent does not allow the real talent on our team to shine.

I once did say that the talent was there. The conclusion that I've come to after two games is for the most part, there isn't nearly as much talent as I thought, and where there is talent, either they don't have the leadership skills, mental toughness, and/or desire and drive to go with that talent (Meyer and Blythe), or their play is so impaired by the lack of talent around them (Bowen and Bass) that they could be all-conference players and their performance still wouldn't show through. Face it - we are a bad team and the situation that was given to Chizik was so bad that not even Pete Carrol or what's his name from Florida would have been successful.

I'm surprised that we're NOT RANKED LOWER THAN THAT.

Chizik has to be getting desperate for a victory, I know I am & the sooner the better!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just took a dump that could write a more intelligent post than that.

Quoting Denny Green...

The rules are fair. (check)

The regulations are fair. (check)

The competitive balance is fair. ( :nah: )

OK we get it! We're not a good team this year. We're a limited talent team that creates turnovers. We might win anywhere from 0-2 games. So what? The way I see it is there are two options. 1) You pack it up and complain and try to come up with excuses and quick fix answers and start pointing fingers, or 2) You suck it up, go out there and cheer like it was the last game you'd ever get to see.

Colin Collingherd just said the most important position in sports is quarterback. A great qb can make a good team great. An average qb can let a great team down to good.

Maybe we need Bret to play better than he has for 12 games. And then we might win.

Reading the posters above, the talent appears to be the problem and not the coaches. I offer up the Special teams coach and QB coach as also tagged to their players as not getting 'er done. You can blame players for miscues but they will happen every game. It is just that we can not pull a rabbit out of the hat when we need it.

Actually, this may work to our advantage. Players who want to start as a Frosh can play here. I personally don't care about that stuff. I remember during Ferentz first year, Iowa was in the same boat.
