ISU everyones upset pick

Since the late 90's, I have watched little basketball outside of ISU, for lack of time. What I have noticed has been little trend toward rugby ball in the Big 12, the Big 12 tends to give Kansas special treatment, and the rest of the league gets treated in a pretty even-handed fashion. The women's Big 12 is a completely different story. They are allowing mug ball there.

K-State is really the only Big XII team that plays rugby ball and it has cost them in the NCAA Tournament. K-State has had some pretty solid teams in the Tourney but if they get into foul trouble it completely takes them out of their game in a very similar fashion to Big Ten teams.

If you look at the list of recent National Champions like 2012 Kentucky, 2011 UCONN, 2010 Duke, 2009 UNC, 2008 Kansas, 2007 Florida, 2006 Florida, etc... none of these teams played an overly physical style of basketball.

Only 1 NCAA championship, for Kansas. Kansas had another one in 1988. In order for the Big 12 to become more competitive someone besides Kansas has to emerge.

If it happens, that would blow my socks off. I am sure it would provide one of the greatest NCAA upsets in history. The NCAA would profit immensely, especially showcasing our dreamy coach. Imagine the Hollywood story-line they could give this. Clean cut Iowa boy coaches his tattooed team to the championship. He would be raised immediately to Hollywood status, and we probably would never have to worry about the refs again as long as Fred coaches.

All I know is I've never been scared about the outcome of a sporting event in my life. Seems a little ridiculous.

I'd prefer it if ND was picked and looked past us to the Ohio State game.

For our team, the West Region is the Best One.

Kansas has (Western) Kentucky and North Carolina and Michigan.
Okie State has Oregon and Louisville.
Iowa State has ND and Ohio State and New Mexico.
KState has LaSalle and Wiscy and Gonzaga.
Oklahoma has San Diego State and Georgetown.

Okie State has a tough road, even tougher than OU. Smart better be on his flop game.

KU has easiest road to Sweet Sixteen followed by ISU, OU, KState, and OSU.

In order, Louisville, Indiana, Gonzaga, Miami, Duke, Georgetown, Ohio State are the worst teams to face. Then it does not matter after that.

This year "Six Game Degrees of NCAA Kevin Bacon" could mean any team can win out.

Depends on which Iowa State team shows up to play during each of the NCAA games.

If it's the same Iowa State team that showed up to play Kansas on Feb 25th during regulation or the Okie State game, then they sure could be an Elite 8/Final 4 team. If it's the other Iowa State team that showed up a few times this year, we won't even make it past the first round.

Isu could easily make it to the sweet 16 if they play to their potential all three games. Odds of that actually happening? Not sure I would place that bet

definitely not good news. the trendy picks always lose. I like our chances, but this is bad juju.

I recognize patterns. When Iowa State gets hyped up and picked to win, often time it results in a loss (see examples all over the place in multiple sports). When they are ignored or underrated, they rise up and win.

This might be just a coincidence, but its absolutely correct.

ISU is the pick in only 37.6% of brackets on ESPN.com. We are underdogs in Vegas as well. Settle down

I remember in 2000 when we faced UCLA in the Sweet 16 and UCLA had been all that anybody could talk about all week, because they had dominated their games in the first two rounds.

Either we finish in the field of 64, 32 or 8. If we somehow get by Ohio State we win the next game. No matter who it is. Heard it here. Don't think we'll get that far but who knows.
