ISU - Best Road Record in Big 12 Conference Play

ISU ties for the best road record in Big 12 Conference play. Think about that.

So conference road record for ISU was:

Lost at Baylor
Lost at KSU
Lost at KU
Lost at Tech
Lost at OU
Won at Stillwater
Won at Austin
Won at Morgantown
Won at Fort Worth

4-5 in conf. play....

Some one posted that Johnny's teams would go year 3 or 4 years winning 4 games on the road! Not too shabby.

I didn't realize we lost 5 road games in a row before winning the rest. I would take that trend any day heading into the tournaments over a winning 4 in a row and losing the last 5.

I don't think that's the right order.
Not bad overall, if you forget the way any certain games went!

Great job by the guys for picking things up on the road. It is a dang tough conference and road wins are hard to come by.

ISU's five road wins this year (4 in the Big 12 plus Iowa) were the most a Cyclone team has had since 2001.

But I thought everyone said we couldn't win on the road. Certainly it would've been nice to win the two we should have (K-State, Texas Tech), but I'll take it. Next year this team won't have a problem at all winning on the road!

20 X 20 hindsight but what could have been....... Texas Tech (-5) & Baylor (-1) were prior to McKay being inserted into the starting line up. He played 25 minutes in each. The K-State (-1) loss he played 32. Fred obviously knew how to handle his insertion as a starter which involved game conditioning and team chemistry (ie Jones). But this team was painfully close to at the minimum being Co-Champs. If Niang, Morris and Mckay all return, which I expect, ISU would have to be picked up near the top next year by the media.

I put that up. Had everything from Orr's first year to present. Every good ISU coach has had a breakout year or two with multiple road wins, with exception to those years, the MO for ISU basketball in conference play has been win at Hilton and pray for mercy everywhere else. I'd say with 5 years to compare that has solidly changed under Hoiberg.
