ISU Baylor Prediction

And now y'all bring up the other thing that worries me: place-kicking (or really, special teams in general).

In a close game, I like ISU because your PK seems much better than ours. That can make all the difference in the end.

For the first since the latter half of 2000 (Carl Gomez), I actually feel pretty good about our kicking game. But, our guy is still a true freshman. He's done well in every game save one (Iowa), but he was also kicking in soup that day.

In a game with a lot of offense and not much defense, with a lot of touchdowns on both sides, I wouldn't be surprised to see it come down to a field goal.

ISU will have to be at its best to win this one. I think the whole PB thing is a huge distraction. I picked ISU by 10 on Monday. Today, I'm picking Baylor by 10.

Too many distractions, too young of team, too big of hurdle to climb.

ISU 24
Baylor 34

Wow, a 20 point swing because Bates left the team? It'll have an effect, but I don't think it's a 20 point effect...

Our defense gets the young QB to make some mistakes and we win the turnover battle, we win but not by much.

Bad time for a guy to leave, The guys are still a little out of it as of 12. Could be a slow start to the game. I think they'll pull together.

Eh, I'll go out on a limb.

ISU 42, BU 21. RG throws his first pick of the year, plus another one.

Yes, it will have that big of impact (20 points is being conservative). Team Chemistry is Huge and ISU is too young to overcome distractions like this. Also, the importance for this game just jumped up 3 notches.

Yes, how will they function without a pouter?

This game is real easy to dissect boys...Stop Robert Griffin and ISU wins...If Griffin has a big game ISU will LOSE!!!!

It really is a simple game boys!!!

Change is a coming boys to the good old US of A!!!

And remember..."Reality really Bites!"

I think Gene finally does it. ISU 28 Baylor 27. In overtime.

not to knock a prediction too hard (because it does have I-State winning) but that is a VERY unlikely OT score...

I said it before but I think we finally get another road win with that same score as our last one (against A&M.)

Iowa State 42
Baylor 14

I picked ISU to win every game this year so far 2-3, 0-3 against more competitive teams, ( I guess I will keep UI in that category since it was on the road). I predicted a 7 point victory, now it is less than 3 hrs. and our given road record, I thiiiiiink we still win,but it is close 35-31 ISU. Here is to 500 on my predictions for this year.

I agree with balla. CBs are the weakness of our D, but the D-Line isn't much in front of them either (pun intended). Our best CB is a converted receiver. While this happens at the college level, we converted him out of necessity, not out of choice.

Our LB corps are solid. Joe Pawelek is the slowest great linebacker you will ever see. That kid has a nose for the ball and a football instinct like no one I've ever seen. He can bring the wood as well. He looks like he's moving in slow-mo and then intercepts a pass or gets a tfl.

Bad D-Line = no pressure on the QB. Bad secondary = bad protection. Put those together and teams can pass on us at will. Baylor will concede 5-8 yards with our soft coverage in order to not get burned deep (hoping that the Cyclone offense makes mistakes). IF y'all consistently march down the field 5-8 yards at a time without making mistakes (penalties, turnovers, etc.), y'all will have a good day. If not, Baylor wins because Griffin and co. should be able to put up 24+ points.

I give the edge to Baylor ONLY because the game is in Waco. In Ames, I say ISU wins. It should be close.

I love Baylor fans! Only ISU and Baylor supporters will write three detailed paragraphs about how their team could probably lose. We have so much in common; let's hang out sometime!

ISU could really get burned by Baylor offense. We don't do well against QB's who can run. I think whoever's defense shows up will win the game. Toss-up.
