And now y'all bring up the other thing that worries me: place-kicking (or really, special teams in general).
In a close game, I like ISU because your PK seems much better than ours. That can make all the difference in the end.
ISU will have to be at its best to win this one. I think the whole PB thing is a huge distraction. I picked ISU by 10 on Monday. Today, I'm picking Baylor by 10.
Too many distractions, too young of team, too big of hurdle to climb.
ISU 24
Baylor 34
Wow, a 20 point swing because Bates left the team? It'll have an effect, but I don't think it's a 20 point effect...
Yes, it will have that big of impact (20 points is being conservative). Team Chemistry is Huge and ISU is too young to overcome distractions like this. Also, the importance for this game just jumped up 3 notches.
Wow, 75 huh? So were playing Texas for the 2005 Big XII title? :skeptical:baylor 75
iowa state 2
we get 2 on a botched snap on a punt
I think Gene finally does it. ISU 28 Baylor 27. In overtime.
I agree with balla. CBs are the weakness of our D, but the D-Line isn't much in front of them either (pun intended). Our best CB is a converted receiver. While this happens at the college level, we converted him out of necessity, not out of choice.
Our LB corps are solid. Joe Pawelek is the slowest great linebacker you will ever see. That kid has a nose for the ball and a football instinct like no one I've ever seen. He can bring the wood as well. He looks like he's moving in slow-mo and then intercepts a pass or gets a tfl.
Bad D-Line = no pressure on the QB. Bad secondary = bad protection. Put those together and teams can pass on us at will. Baylor will concede 5-8 yards with our soft coverage in order to not get burned deep (hoping that the Cyclone offense makes mistakes). IF y'all consistently march down the field 5-8 yards at a time without making mistakes (penalties, turnovers, etc.), y'all will have a good day. If not, Baylor wins because Griffin and co. should be able to put up 24+ points.
I give the edge to Baylor ONLY because the game is in Waco. In Ames, I say ISU wins. It should be close.
