Isn't this how Baylor gets an Outbreak?

I was reading this article and the photo a the top is stunning to me. The players coming into close contact with the student body and fans, most of whom are maskless. Why go through all the trouble of keeping your players isolated and then let this happen? It seems like a silly risk.

Any bets on how many get COVID this week?

And the couple that have masks don't even have them on correctly.

I was really surprised that Baylor packed their student section and for the most part went maskless. . What have the other schools been doing? The FB team is probably at pretty low risk going thru the line and outside.

The female students are probably more likely to get raped than Covid on that campus. Granted, that probability is still very very high for both.

If nothing else it makes for terrible optics.

Probably between zero and a few.

On a practical note, I wonder what our plan for after the game is. I could see an announcement being made about staying away from players, stay off the field, etc.

At TCU, almost all players went directly off the field (Campbell ran right past the few dozen fans gathered near the tunnel). He looked like a man on a mission with something to accomplish in the locker room.

Meh. COVID exposure is defined by something like less than 6 ft contact for greater than 15 minutes. A high five line that takes a minute to go through isn't high risk stuff.

Silly risk, sure. But not that big of a deal here, IMO.
People touching mouth, nose and/or eyes and touching others hands or even other objects is another way it is believed to be spread. When you have a line of over 100 players high-fiving over 100 fans that is a lot of exchanges of pathogens on hands - 10,000+ if it is just 100 in each group.

Not smart.

Wait wait. The football team actually lined up and actually high fived the student section?

Kind of seems like one of those subliminal defiance of guidelines/recommendations kind of thing to show how 'not scurred' they are.

More overt than subliminal.
A local school with similar beliefs to Baylor is sitting on half a dozen cases or more at this moment, but it's OK, because they'll respect your decision to wear a mask.

We're 8 months deep into this thing and there's still articles about how kids aren't generally affected by Covid, which is so far not wrong. However, they still fail to take on the task of talking about how it affects that whole 'people who make school happen' population that's not as disposable as some think.
Like these Baylor players are with that whole 'people who make sure fans can see them play football' thing.

If they do have an outbreak and games have to be cancelled shouldn't the big12 consider it a forfeit? How can that be in line with conference covid protocal? How can they claim to be serious about prevention?
