Isaiah Austin

They said he has something that causes enlarged arteries. Said if he works too hard his heart could rupture.

I feel terrible for him. Extremely sad. Hopefully he had some sort of insurance.

Awful news and I feel bad for him. Honestly though it is a great thing that he declared for the draft this season. Had he not done so, his condition may have gone unnoticed and things may have gone wrong.

He lucked out all things considered. If he's been living with it for a while.

I feel awful for the kid. Great competitor.

@SIPeteThamel: Sad news. Former Baylor center Isaiah Austin diagnosed with a career ending medical condition linked to potential aortic enlargement.

Sorry to hear about this...gained a ton of respect for him after learning of his loss of eye, now this... :-(

As others have said, good it was discovered....too bad he won't get the $$$ he would have got with a deal....not from a "get rich" perspective, but from a "have no worries long term" ala CFH.

I've wondered before if there might be NBA players with Marfan's Syndrome since they tend to be unusually tall. Does anybody know if the NBA automatically tests for it or if there was some suspicion to test for it with Austin?

Also, would be a GREAT opportunity for NCAA to be pro-active and say despite having an agent, he could go back to Baylor on scholly or whatever.

Real tough break for the kid. Have to give him credit for giving the interview today right after he found out.
