Is Soares sick or hurt?

It’s in the game thread, too.

This injury coupled with Jordao's medical retirement puts ISU's hopes of big things in March in serious jeopardy. Time for Ny to pack on some pounds - she is going to need to play more minutes in the post.

Please no, she's perfect the way she is.
Not at all serious. That said, she is going to struggle defending some of the beefier bigs in the conference but she will also be able to drag them out to the perimeter when she is on offense which is good.

It might be time for Kane to start shooting one wide open 3 every game or two to remind her defenders she can hit them so they don't clog up the lane as much as they like to when she is in. We know she can hit them but I don't believe she has attempted one the entire season so far.

This is why I never get too invested in women's cbb. The margin for error is so much smaller than in other sports. Only a few programs have access to the size and athleticism necessary to compete for championships. We've seen it for many years now. Iowa State rip thru the regular season with only a few hiccups and are in the top 25 or even 15 the whole way, only to get beat in the tournament by somebody bigger, stronger, more athletic etc. If you aren't top 5 or 6, you pretty much don't matter come March. The Hawkeye women are the same way, not that I care. Soares was Iowa State's ticket to maybe joining that elite group, but if she's out of the picture, you can forget about it. They'll still have a fine season I'm sure, and be dancing come March, but won't make it out of the first weekend with what they have left. Wash, rinse, repeat.
