Is it time for Sage to take the stage for the Vikings?

Vikings needs: Sage spices things but QB spot key - NFL - CBSSports.com Football

If Rosenfels is as good as he was against Minnesota last season -- and he completed 21 of 29 passes in the second half -- the Vikings will be fine. The threat of the pass will make Peterson and Chester Taylor that much more effective, and they were good enough to comprise the league's fifth-ranked rushing attack.

Let me say I wish nothing but the best for Sage and hope he is successful with the Vikings, but I've been a Vikings fan for 40 years and in the last 20 years the Vikings D has made every opposing QB look like a hall of famer.

our D backs have been very light yes...i like our D line though, there crazy good.

Sage doesn't have to be great for this team to win. Just limit mistakes and manage the game and he will be fine.

Insert lame argument about Cutler "not having any receivers to throw to now compared to when he was in Denver "and transfer to the Vikings situation here.

The vikings have Berrian as the deep threat and Wade as the slot/3rd guy. Both are serviceable in those roles. They also have Chester Taylor as the 3rd down guy out of the backfield. What they are missing is what is needed for the offense to click - a solid #2/possession receiver. Hopefully they can find this in the draft even if they go OL on the top pick.

They must not have a lot of faith in Tavarius if they went after Sage and then were still possibly interested in Cutler.

Doesn't sound like they were interested at all:

Many believe the Vikings are a quarterback short of being a legitimate Super Bowl contender — everyone, apparently, except the Vikings. Team sources told PFW the Vikings like the Sage Rosenfels-Tarvaris Jackson combination and are prepared to head into training camp with those two competing for the starting job. They had no plans to make a real push to get QB Jay Cutler, who was traded to the Bears on Thursday, because some members of the Vikings' organization viewed him as a selfish player, especially considering his recent demands to be traded and feud with head coach Josh McDaniels. The Vikings have had their share of quarterbacks who were considered to be me-first players, such as Jeff George and Daunte Culpepper, and apparently had no plans of repeating the same mistake.

Sidney Rice started playing better last year as our 2nd WR, but he seems to get hurt a lot. I hope Sage can grab the QB spot right away, as I have less then full confidence in TJ. Our defense should be better with getting EJ Henderson back at Middle LB.

Looks like the Vikings' spin machine/marketing team was kicked into high gear with this statement. What if the price to get Cutler would have been only Jackson, I bet they'd have been singing a different tune about his "selfishness." Easy to say this stuff after you don't get a guy.

Actually when the trade first started coming up, the Vikings were totally in on it. If you go back and read articles from Feb, you'll hear about the 3 way trade that the Vikes just needed to sign off on and the coaching staff did not.

Cutler was the Vikings to lose. I am not dissapointed we didn't get him though. I would've rather they signed Jeff Garcia or Byron Leftwich.

Fair enough. I'm happy they didn't get him. If they did I'd give the Bears no chance of winning the division.
