Is Iowa really going to miss Shonn Greene?

Has anyone seen the stats on future Hawk Brandon Wegher? What's everyone's thoughts...

3238 total rushing yards (8.94 ypc)
4.28 sec. 40 speed

Had quite a few offers from BCS schools, the biggest appearing to be Penn State...loaded mostly with Big 10 and Big 12 schools.

the 4.28 is not legit... i can guarantee you that. it will also take a miracle for anyone to win the job over Hampton.

....that being said. get this Hawk garbage off CF

The short answer is yes, Iowa will definitely miss Greene. I watched the Heelan kid play in the state championship, and he is no Greene. He will never be as good as Greene. However, he is very athletic and hard-nosed and will end up being a solid player.

Wegher will end up being a good player whether it is at RB, WR, or safety.

His 4.28 speed is LOL. There is a 0% chance he runs a 4.28

Agreed. Not to downgrade the kid at all, but he doesn't possess the size and power that Shonn Green has... that may change over time, but he won't be a Shonn Green. The job belongs to Hampton.

Penn State and a few others wanted him to play Safety. One of the reasons that he chose EIU, if I recall, is that they were willing to let him try a hand at RB.

I think that EIU is hoping for a Tim Dwight type guy, but he's not even close.

A 1st year former Iowa High school player replacing the Doak Walker winner and future 1st round pick?????

:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

I would hate to count on much production from a true freshman no matter what position he plays or how many stars he has behind is name.

Seriously? I mean come on people. That is getting down near Deion Sanders. I doubt any kid from Sioux City is going to be world class speed straight out of high school. Why not just say 3.9 and really make a statement?

I don't think you can really compare a high schooler to a 23-year-old (much less a Doak Walker winner). Comparisons like that should probably be saved until Wegher has finished his career. And from what I've read about him, he is very, very fast.

At any rate, he'll likely RS anyway with Hampton and Brinson already there. Hampton has tremendous potential, and the coaching staff is apparently super high on Brinson (he got hurt or something before the season started, so he too a RS).

So yes, Greene will be missed (duh), but I really don't think Iowa's offense is suddenly going to suck just because he's gone. They might actually be even better on O than they were this past season (as good, certainly).

Exactly. 4.28 speed would put him in the top 10 ALL TIME for NFL Combine speed. If they kid runs a 4.4 that is fast!! LT didn't even run a 4.4 coming out of college
