So my BB Bold has basically died and I am eligible for an upgrade. I wouldn't mind an Iphone but I have heard rumors that the 5 will be coming out in a few months. Anyone hear or read anything that can back that up.

Or would the Droid Razr be a better option?

I know the ipad 3 is expected in early March, but I haven't heard of a new IPhone yet. I thought with the 4s last fall we wouldn't see another until this fall. I may have missed it though.

But, the quad core androids are right around the corner if that interests you. I also agree that Motorola should be avoided. Samsung or HTC make better phones.

Motorola seems to be edging past HTC lately, IMO. Ive got an incredible, but its looking likely my next phone will be a motorola or samsung.

I manage my company's mobile phone policy, etc. I would definitely stay away from Motorola. We've had nothing but problems with them. HTC has been almost flawless, althougth the original Incredible did have a few issues.

The newer HTC phones have performed very well for us.

Just my experience....

I've heard really strong things about the Moto Photon as well. Seems like they may be stepping up their game with their Android handsets.

I wouldn't necessarily assume that with the 4S launch in the fall that the 5 won't arrive until fall. Up until the 4S, the iPhone refresh was more of a summer thing. There have been some rumors that the delay with the 4S was because the 5 wasn't going to be ready, so they had to go back to the drawing board to put together a more incremental upgrade to get something out in 2011. I have no idea if that is true, but if it is in the ballpark, I can see them getting back on track with the 5 and getting back to a summer launch window.

The only Razr I would consider is the Razr Maxx. 4G loks like it's a major battery hog.

I've had the droid x for 2 years in May and unless something else comes along, I'm leaning towards the Razr Maxx. Galaxy Nexus would be first on my list but once again, the battery life sucks.

i am posting from my 3rd droid razr in 3 months. but my work bought 6 of them and i am the only one's that has had problems. i finally have had no problems and the battery life is much better.

Was looking at the razr maxx this weekend, but will wait til.it goes down to $199. my droid x is working fine still, no hurry. My wife got the iphone 4s, didn't want to wait for the 5, but shes had the same flip phone for 4 years now. I have also heard late summer for the 5, at least according to rumors on cnet.

got the raxr Maxx about a month ago. I absolutely love it. Got an otterbox-defender series, so it's well protected. It barely fits in a pants pocket, and it's heavy as heck, but it's totally worth it. Only charge it every two days. So much better than my previous phone (HTC Incredible)

It's about the worst time to purchase an iPhone 4S--from all I've read, the iPhone 5 will be out as early as June but no later than October, and it's likely to be a major upgrade (larger display, different design, and most importantly, 4G). If you really can't bear to wait for it, though, I would get an iPhone 4 instead of a 4S; the 4S is a marginal upgrade at best (oooh, it has voice recognition...snore), yet has a much higher price tag.

I also have a Razr Maxx (purchased two weeks ago). The phone has been great for me. Holds its battery charge forever, great speed and I like the design.
