I had a great time at the game last night. Over 10K people in attendance to see the team win their first game. Based on the number of people at the game, in line for the concession stands and the lines to buy hats, t shirts and sweatshirts. I would say it was a pretty successful night. This was the second highest attendance ever for a hockey game in Des Moines only beat out by the very last Chops game, where if I remember correctly they were practically giving tickets away to fill the arena.

So overall I was very impressed and hope to see continued fan support in Des Moines. GO WILD!!!!

I was told this was the largest franchise opener in AHL history. I guess people do care here.

Well polished all around, with the exception of getting smoked out with the team entrance.

It was a very defensive game, but getting the W was huge.

That's great to hear. I'm going when I'm back on winter break and am really excited. I also want this team to do well. It sounds like management has been doing all the right things with this team.

That's good considering we all know how the Iowa Stars went down..

It seems like they've been doing a good job getting the players out in the community which is essential and being attached to a nearby franchise is going to help a lot as well. I have hardcore hockey fan family in MN (big surprise, I know) that have mentioned possibly catching a game when they pass through some time. Whether that actually happens, who knows, but I doubt it's even on their radar if it's not Minnesota's farm team.

Sitting behind us was a family of 10 people from Minnesota that came down specifically for the game. It was their first time in Iowa.

My dad is a huge hockey fan, so for his birthday, we bought a block of 10 tickets at center ice for a game. Should be a good time! Also- if you are buying 10 or more tickets, buy them through the season ticket office. We only needed 9 but saved $40 by buying 10.

Here is a good deal if you haven't been to a game and want to check it out with the family (or a few friends)
