If a 10 seed and winning 1 game in the tournament was your expectation this year, what are they next year? NIT berth?
A ten seed would be a freakin' gift to this year's Iowa team. They belong in a higher seed, specifically the 8/9 game. Downgrading them is just "throwing them into the briar patch" to avoid a #1. Hell, why not just give them a #12 seed and be done with it?
I have zero confidence in Iowa winning the 7/10 game as a 10 seed. Lunardi has two Big 10 and two Big 12 teams as 7's right now; obviously Iowa would avoid the B1G ones, so they'd get either Oklahoma State or West Virginia. That's the caliber of team they would have to get past.
There's a reason the 7/10 upset is so accepted as a given. The lesser seed doesn't have the spectre of a #1 (or a #16? It's gonna happen someday) facing them in the second (third, if you're Fran) round of the tourney, so they have one fewer distraction.
On KXNO the Hawkeye expert just said those were Woodbury's first dunks of the season, as in first since the famous shushing...

In calling iowa to the sweet 16. Of be disappointed with anything less. My expectations are high.
The real amazing trick would be watching him spin that 1 win as more meaningful than Fred's likely 5-7 NCAA wins in the same time span. I'd bet my life it would happen too.
Short of ISU winning the national championship Deano and Dognuts will be spinning how Iowa is the superior program. I think even that might not stop them.
Or if UNLV wins their conference tourney and gets matched up against Iowa in the 7/10 game. Then if the #2 seed suffers a massive bout of food poisoning from bad seafood at their first round win celebration. That would put Iowa into the Sweet 16.
