Just watched Star Trek the other night and the theatre I went to was laughing pretty loudly at the begining. Of course the movie roughly begins in Iowa where James Kirk originates from and guess what...........Even 300 years later there is still nothing but cornfields! Also of course crude farm animal jokes as well. I know this is a pointless observation but it did make me laugh.

Apparently there will be giant canyons though, so...yea

At least they made the USS Enterprise here... but yea, the canyons looked more like a quarry (dug straight down.)

The farm animal joke I thought was rather crude, being an Iowan. But I can understand why most poeple would really find that amusing though. At least a future Iowan is a legendary Starfleet Captain lol.

I don't think anyone going to a Star Trek movie should be making fun/laughing at the life style in Iowa. Just my opinion.

I agree with most of it, but if the ladies look like that at the bar in Riverside, screw going out in Ames anymore.

I've been to the bar in Riverside. I suggest staying in Ames.

Trekfest is surely a one-of-a-kind event and not in a good way.

I dont live in Iowa so I guess I am making fun of you too. Have fun!

Frankly, Iowa wasn't built to be your pleasure palace. I like it the way it is and don't appreciate it when some out of state idiot makes fun of Iowa.

Funny thing is, I consider it to be a great state, and the people who find it "boring" tend to be boring people, who are so shallow and vacuous that they need to be constantly stimulated because they have no brain activity or creativity of their own.

My favorite thing are the people who feel morally superior to Iowans because they are from some urban area, as if they inherit some extra intelligence gene by being whelped. These people tend to have low 2 digit IQs.

I cannot wait to be back in Iowa. Lovely state. We didn't make it for your entertainment, so get over yourself.

Thank you!

Well said, it is especially funny when people come to Iowa to go to one of our state funded universities and then complain that its boring as if they're doing us a favor by being here.

Just a little prickly about critical comments about Iowa, right now. I'm just a precious few days short of getting on a rickety old airplane to come back to it....
