A couple of future Cyclones to watch this weekend. 3A Gabe Greenlee, Sr, 31-0 and 2A Jack Gaukel, Sr, 40-2.

Who else are we watching as hopeful future Cyclones?
3A 106 Carter Freeman, Fr, 24-0
3A 132 Ryder Block, So, 21-0

Lots of good 2A kids but I have no idea if any are a Cyclone lean. I’m guessing Ben Kueter 3A 195 is a hawk lean but the kid is a must get.

3A team race should be a blast between Waverly Shell-Rock, SEP and Waukee. I'll be pulling for Waukee, but could come down to which team racks up the most bonus points.

As for guys I want to see at ISU...

3A 106 - Carter Freeman
3A 113 - Nate Jesuroga
3A 132 - Ryder Block

...Lots of other good wrestlers of course, but these three have monster upside I think.

Side note, as a Waukee alum, it's really fun to see how that program has developed. 12-15 years ago when I was there no one cared about wrestling. In recent years they've been challenging for team titles and producing some talent. Biscoglia is pretty good at UNI, Anthony Zach was a state champ, Carter Freeman is going to be a big time recruit, Cole Ferguson is headed to OU, etc. Hopefully they keep producing hammers and send a few up to Ames!

I'm keeping a close eye on 1A 120.

You got Lopez (defending state champ at 113 last year) meeting up with more than likely Kellen Smith a freshman from West Hancock (who lost 8-4 to Paez of Lisbon in the first round of state duals) in the quarters. Followed up with Funk from DB in the semis (who lost a burner to Paez in the state dual championships last night in OT and placed 5th Last year).

Then you have Paez on the bottom side who is the defending champion and Jace Rose who got 4th last year at 113. Definitely a fun one for me being from up North and from smaller schools. Backside could get real fun in this one

Is Track the only place to watch the matches?

Any suggestions on the best way to follow the tourney these days?

Some of the lower weight 1A brackets are going to be fun to watch. Quite a few of them have 3 or 4 studs at the top.

Hopefully there will be a little bit of drama in 1A. Hate it when team titles are wrapped up Friday night or early in the medal round.

Don Bosco has all 12 wrestlers alive (11 on front side).
Lisbon has 10 left (8 on front side).

Couldn’t agree more. All 4 years of my high school career DB had it all but wrapped up after the opening session.
