Should they skip the formalities and just play Valley v. Dowling now?
Throw Cedar Falls in and play a round robin and call that the 4A playoffs...
Why are some of the first round games being played at the lower seeded team's field?
I saw that as well, even though it specifically says "higher seed" will host. Would a district champ get a lower seed and a home game?
They were likely a district champion.
Just when you think that the IHSAA couldn't get dumber...
Yeah the division winners get home field but they also get the higher seed. Just seems bizarre to have the #6 seed having to play on the road at the #9 seed. In the wildcard round the higher seed gets home field.
And we've named the only 4 schools in the state with anything resembling a shot to win

Kind of unfortunate that Davenport North tied for its best record in school history (6-3) and was still left out of the playoffs. I get it - there’s not room for every 6-3 team to qualify. It would just be nice if one of these years my old HS, after having a good season, would legitimately make the playoffs (unlike that one year several years back where they won 2 games and still qualified because something like more than half the schools qualified for the playoffs that year).
I've always loved watching the playoffs, its really great now to be able to stream games.
Those brackets make my head hurt. Who's hosting. A hodgepodge of rankings/matchups. At least they're not doing 32 teams anymore.
They are talking about going back to 32. If they do they will take 1 game off the regular season and go with 32. I'm hoping they keep it like it is.
