Is there an Iowa cable tv contract for Iowa Cubs baseball games? Does anyone know how much of an effort there has been over the last few years to televise AAA baseball across the country? Here in Honolulu we had a AAA team through 1987, but lost it due to low attendance. I have recently wondered if there had been more national/local interest in AAA teams (including a nationally followed pennant race) whether that would have made the games here more of an attraction.

I don't think there is much on TV but I'm pretty sure there are streaming options.

Yeah, I remember seeing that. I wonder how much revenue teams get from that. I am asking that rhetorically since that's not something most people would know off hand.

I'm sure it can't happen because the mlb is dumb but why arent minor league games on the marquee network? Has to be better than top 10 cub classics for the nth time or red bull sailing.

Seems like there are 3 directions which it could go. Either: 1. MLB Network devotes time to covering AAA baseball, 2. AAA teams develop some way to show and cover more of their product on tv or streaming or 3. keep things as the status quo. It seems like enough people are satisfied with the status quo that that is how things will continue.

Just found out that the Marquee Network you are talking about is the network that shows the Cubs. I thought that you were calling the MLB Network the "marquee network" for professional baseball.

Baseball is run by a bunch of morons who think the actual game is most of the problem. Yeah there are pace of play issues but the biggest issue I’ve s lack of access. I think Central Iowa is blacked out of 6 teams and I don’t think any are available on Dish right now. I bum off of my parents DirecTV sometimes for Cardinals games but it is more of a hassle that I have to want to watch the game.

You know there’s problems in baseball when you’re

- Blacking out 6 teams in a state with 0 teams

- Making it illegal to share exciting clips

- The Padres and Blue Jays are your biggest spending teams in the offseason

Yeah, the game is enjoyed by many even though there are others who aren't into it. Hopefully, some entrepreneurial people will come into the mix and capitalize on opportunities to grow the sport nationally by finding a way to make it more accessible.

Yeah, we've got a situation here in Hawaii where there are 5 teams that are blacked out although we actually do get the Dodgers on cable.
