Impact of Hawk fans on Cyclone Fanatic....

I have heard from an increasing number of posters and former posters on this site, that they are spending less time both reading and posting on CF. The reason I hear is that it is becoming more and more of a site for Hawk fans, and that it is no longer fun to post or read. I share those thoughts, and wonder what others think. I am not saying any action should be taken, just posting my opinion. Wonder what other Cyclone fans think.
 
Anybody that agrees with this needs to learn to ignore or probably is taking their time over here at Cyclonefanatic way too seriously.

I have no problem with the hawks on here. I just think we should change the name of the website to more accurately reflect what CF has become. We could call it:

usedtobecyclonefanaticbutnowitsmostlylowselfesteemhavinghawkfanswhodidnotgetenoughattentionfromtheirparentsgrowingupandactuallybelievethat peopleonherecarewhatheyhavetosay.com

Actually, I give up on threads that look like they could be promising because they ultimately spew the rivalry. It's definitely different than when I joined just a couple of years ago. Too bad. But I'll keep coming back - there will be good threads here - I'll just miss many of them.

I would rather there not be any hawk fans here, but that's not why I'm spending less time here (which I am). I just get tired of rehashing the same crap every day, and that does include the hawk threads, and they are usually started by Cyclone fans. Hopefully it's just because it's summer, and the site will be more enjoyable in the fall... as long as we don't totally suck at football.

Unless it says in the title that the U of I is locking up and suspending players who break the law then I just choose to ignore their threads.

I suggest you do the same, trolls tend to go away when ignored.

I agree with you mostly. I spend the majority of my time in the Friday cave now and not on the hawk/main page. You're right, many of the threads are started by clones---but not as an attempt to bait and argue with hawks. The hawks on here just think that anything that has to do with any football that takes in this state automatically makes them experts and they feel the weird need to post a ridiculous amount of times on a cyclone message board. I'm not even sure how they get internet in their vans down by the river....

I will say this, you have to be a pretty bored person to get a kick out of starting **** on another team's internet message board. I'm looking at you DJK.
 
I'm new here and was thinking,hoping, that it was mostly Cyclone fans.
I was a bit surprised with the number of Hawk fans.
A few are decent,but most of them aren't.
The mods do a good job but they can only do so much.
I'd prefer no Hawk fans at all....but,whatever.
 
Yeah, them darn Hawk fans posting on CF are almost as annoying as the Cyclone fans constantly complaining and posting about them :wideeyed:
 
I think my opinion has been has already been made clear in another thread. If we can get the majority of members to place these hawk trolls on their ignore list they will lose interest with no Clone fans to flame and they will head back to hawk boards. I am not a fan of fellow Clones avoiding coming to CF to read about the Cyclones because of the hawk talk. I would much prefer that hawk fans went somewhere else. Ignoring them can make it happen.
 
I don't understand why Hawk fans post here, nor do I know why certain ISU fans care. Neither is going to cause me to think less of the site though. Some people take things way too seriously.

Hopefully it's just another summer on CF. Usually, here during the summer, most topics are about everything BUT Iowa State Athletics. But once football practice and school starts it gets back to normal.
Talking Hawks is better than 50 different random Off Topic threads everyday.
 
I think the reason there are so many Hawk fans here is because so many people create Hawk related threads. Also, if you'll notice, 75% of non-Iowa related threads somehow get turned into bickering back and forth about the rivalry.

Sometimes it's Iowa trolls that do it, but a good portion of the time it's ISU fans bringing Iowa into the equation. I have also been spending less time on the board... partially for that reason, partially for other reasons. But even I have gotten tired of the the same old conversations...

A: Hey, ISU picked up a recruit today!
B: Yeah, hopefully he doesn't get arrested like those thugs over at EIU
C: KF needs to get his guys under control
A: This guy has all the tools to be an all American!
D: Hey, all college kids drink, if you don't like it, you've never been to college!
B: Hey, Squawk doucher, get off our board!
A: EIU would be lucky to get this high profile of recruit!
F: Come on guys, be nice!
D: I'm just speaking the truth, ISU is not immune to this!
G: I'M SO SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THE HAWK FANS COMING HERE AND RUINING OUR FUN!!!!!

Good post. That happens wayyy too much.
 
There aren't a lot of good cyclone sites....so I get frustrated when Hawks have to invade it (they have several more outlets).

I tend to check CF less than in the past few yrs.....just tired of the Hawk talk as the site has less ISU chatter
