If Kansas leaves the Big 12 for the PAC, who do you take back?

The following YouTuber suggests that Kansas is actively trying to leave the Big 12 for the PAC.

While I suspect the post that led to John's speculation is a just a troll, I for one would help Kansas pack their bags if we got about anyone back from the PAC. Heck, I might even take one of the other schools we considered for expansion over the Jayhawks. Sure we would lose the history of Kansas - ISU but from a football standpoint - who cares if Kansas leaves? Form a basketball standpoint, the conference will be strong without Kansas and we can beat them in the tourney.

If I had my pick of a school that I think would be realistic I would do Utah. (we are not getting a blue blood like USC and the Arizona schools likely come as a package deal).

Kurtz has zero info he just comments on any crap clickbait he can find elsewhere on the net. Essentially he is us, but with a youtube show.

That said, if the Big12 is gonna exist, can't afford the stigma and stench of ANYONE leaving for any reason. Anything like that happens and the media would climax continuously while throwing dirt on the conference.

The YouTuber suggested that Kansas believes its basketball is so good that it will be able to "upgrade" to the PAC or BiG even with their FCS level football team.

Pac 12 is struggling right now and the Big 10 won't touch KU because of how they are at football.

Agreed - I couldn't help but dream, however, I would be perfectly fine if there was any truth to the troll as I think the Big 12 would be better.

Can you imagine if Vanderbilt threatened the same thing in the SEC?
 
This reads as a grasping at straws sort of idea more than anything concrete.

BUT just to entertain the idea: I see little chance of Kansas going to the PAC without someone else going with them. Presumably that would be OSU or TTU just based on value as a media property. So lets assume OSU and KU get pulled to the PAC. Whats left of the Big 12 isnt going to be appealing enough to pull anyone away from the PAC or the other P5 conferences.

Memphis is the easiest and best option to backfill one of those spots: good basketball history and following, decent football and a strong corporate tie to bolster sponsorship money for the conference. The difficulty is in that second team. In my mind the next best options are one of the following: San Diego State, SMU, Colorado St, and UAB.

None of these really move the needle much for football, but at least have (can have in CSU's case) competent programs that shouldn't hurt the football product of the conference. The all also have a decent history of basketball success that can help to solidify the conference as the toughest top to bottom perennially.

My preference would be either CSU to get more eyes in the Denver/Fort Collins area, or UAB to get a foothold in the heart of SEC country.

The PAC's current deal expires in 2024. I would presume they get something better, likely taking advantage of their proximity to the streaming giants in Seattle and Silicon Valley.

I don't think that was ever really a thing beyond wishfull thinking. I guess you could say now that we aren't an AAU school anymore that is less likely, but it was always a pipe dream IMO.

Im tired of Memphis. People talk about Fred Smith but his sponsorship is something like 2 MM. that’s less than 170k per team.
