Iceland travel

I’m from northwest Iowa and have had several people from Minnesooota tell me I have a southern accent. By that I think they mean it’s not Canadian.

A friend and I lucked into a really cheap direct flight from MSP to Iceland in July ($472!).

anyone been there? Where should should we base our stay? Ideally we’d be a view days in the capital but I’m not sure what other town.

Finally hooking up with @cyrocksmypants? Thought he only dated the women who aren’t legal to drink.

Be somewhat careful who you book on. Lots of folks lost their prepaid tickets when WOW went bankrupt. I knew someone who had booked a vaca on them and lost their money.

That said, I'd love to go too, seems very otherworldly and def off the beaten path.

I did read about a lot of people losing with WOW. We booked on delta, so we should be good.

I did a 24 hour layover there ~7 years ago. Stayed at the Kex Hostel right downtown. I really wanted to go to the viking museum, but it was closed for two months while moving locations. I went to the Phallological Museum instead. It's...an experience. I had lunch at the Big Lebowski bar. It was pretty forgettable. However, dinner at Tapas barinn (http://www.tapas.is/en) was fantastic. How many other places are you going to eat whale and puffin in the same meal?
