I was at a park in St Louis over the holiday weekend and struck up conversation with a guy in an ISU shirt. He explained he is coaching football at a smaller school in MO. Eventually he tells me who he is. Super great guy. I did not remember he started off playing basketball and then went over to compete for QB, backing up Arnaud and Tiller. Austin M is a really engaging guy. He is really high on Campbell and the staff and agreed how special the program is. I told him I thought the 'culture change' and all the talk was the real deal- not cliche- because of how truly invested CMC and staff are in the kids. You just can't fake that sniff test. Most coaches have so much ego and don't have the big picture that CMC has. I wish I had the presence of mind to ask him some X and O questions. (e.g. I thought at times last year CMC was a little too conservative and 'stick to game-plan' mentality with play-calling.)

We also talked basketball and he told me that Michael Porter Jr is the player that he is really excited about, that he may actually be the once in a generation type talent more than ZW who is untested as a shooter. Was news to me.

MP Jr is good but he's already showing some health issues.

One of the nicest Cyclones I've met. He gave autographs to my nieces and nephews at Pizza Pit after a game (his picture was on the program that day), and was very friendly.

Kid was a hell of an athlete at Waco of Olds, I coached against him many times in BB and FB. Very nice and soft spoken person.
The Waco coaches just raved about the kid. Good to know he is doing well.
