I need your help, Fanatics. Due to terrible luck, every one of my Cyclone friends here in Kansas City will be out of town tomorrow, so I have nobody here to watch the game with. Because of that, I was planning on going to a friend's Cyclone tailgate in Iowa City (he has a house in U Heights) but he had to cancel it. Now I risk having nowhere to go and nobody to watch the game with.

Are there any tailgate parties going on in Iowa City that I could join? I'd be happy to bring food/drinks to share, and as an Iowa City native, can contribute my knowledge of the city to anybody that might need it. I really, really want to be in Iowa City- the chance to see the reaction after an ISU upset is too much to pass up. I'm even open to a mixed group; I'm capable of being respectful...

If I can't find anything in IC, is there anything going on in Kansas City? A party or even just gathering at a bar; whatever. Same applies as above. Basically, I just don't want to watch this game by myself in some random bar in either city.

I'll be at the New Strand in West Liberty watching the game with my 2 year old daughter. We have some whole milk to drink, and probably bring some fruit snacks. I might have to leave at half if it seems she will need a nap.

You are welcome to join me.

Whats wrong with watching it by yourself at home? Thats what im doing and have no problem with that at all.

Was in Westport last weekend... don't go there... it's scary!!
HAHA, I would hardly call it scary at 2:30pm... Now 2:30am that might be a different story. Although if your with a group your definitely fine.
I will be at either Kellys or Brooksider

KC folks, I really appreciate the responses! I actually decided to take a gamble and try Iowa City. I had some other things I needed to come home for, so I made the trip. I'm working on finding a tailgate (or a ticket) this morning. If I can't find one, I'm debating whether to get all decked out in cardinal, grab my flag and some beverages, and go wander around the stadium until I find a random group to join, but my last experience at Kinnick wasn't good.

(I live in Hyde Park, just a couple of minutes from Westport. When you say "Kelly's", do you mean Mike Kelly's Westsider? I'm still new to the area. I go to the Westsider fairly often; love that place.)

So Iowa City folks... I still need a destination! (CycloneYoda, I would feel awkward arguing with your daughter over the fruit snacks, but she's welcome to all the whole milk.)

This is the one everyone is referring to:
Kellys Westport Inn

Yeah, it's not THAT bad. I would be a little concerned if I were by myself at last call in Westport, but middle of the day or early evening, it's not bad. Kelly's has a sweet new patio upstairs.

Of course, we went down there a couple of years ago for ISU/iowa when they played in IC and there was a small group of hok fans in there running it....from Council Bluffs! So, why in the world would you drive down to KC to a Cyclone bar to watch that game?? IC was basically the same distance away. Typical.

It's their inalienable (sp?) right to be morons wherever they go.
