Even at 3.5 years old my daughter totally knows her dad's heart.

B at bedtime tonight: "Dad, two kisses."
Me: Kiss her two times.
B: "Dad, one for the road?"
Me: One more kiss.
B: "Dad????"
Me: "Yes?"
B: "Go Cyclones!!!!"

I melted (and might've shed a tear or two). This kid understands it all as an Iowan living in KC.

Yeah, I usually "have" to watch games alone (get a little amped up), but last night my 8 year old daughter bravely came in and watched with me starting at about the 19:40 point in the 2nd half. She knew I was down, and she tried to cheer me up by cheering first for McKay's dunk then his steal and lay up.

Then we both started getting into it. She'd ask, "Did they score again?" It went that way until about the 5 min mark. We were both so exciteda, but she went off to join her mom and sister in a safer/calmer part of the house. That's about when KU got some momentum back.

I promptly went and got her back to watching. At bedtime both she and her sister put on Iowa State t-shirts and came down to show me. We live on the East coast, but I am doing my best to raise them right (as Cyclone fans).

When the Arizona Cardinals made their run to the Super Bowl back in 2009 and all of Phoenix was fully on board the bandwagon, my daughter (who had just turned 5 at the time) came home from school one day and said, "Dad, why do so many people have Cy on their car?"

If you're not a Cyclone when you're young, it's because you have no heart. If you're not a Cyclone when you're older, it's because you have no brain.

(no, I did not steal from Churchill; he never said it)

I know how you feel. All but my youngest were born in Ames (proud pappa of 7) my oldest is 23 now and when he was 3 or so he could recite the starting five name and number with the same voice the announcer at Hilton used. It was the Hoiberg, Meyer, Beechum, Michalik, etc. team. Made a daddy proud.

Fast forward to now, my youngest was born here in Houston and we were watching a game earlier this year and they showed Cy and he says "What is that?" I was devastated...

He knows now.

I always tell people that I work my *** off so I can afford out-of-state tuition for my daughter to attend Iowa State because I'll be damned if I'm going to pay a penny towards in-state tuition at KU.

My nephew was teaching my 2 year son to say "Go Hawks", so I tried to teach him to say "BOOO Hawks."

So he started saying "Go Blue Hawks"

Fail

My 9 year old daughter has become a Cyclone junky with my brother being there right now and our whole family big fans. It has been great to have someone always to want to watch games with me (my wife grew up a hawk but I have got her turned and she now cheers for ISU) She got a sweet ISU hoodie for Christmas and I'm pretty sure wore it to school every day last week. My kindergarten daughter is coming around and I had this waiting by my spot at breakfast Friday. My 3 year old just likes being in a room where everyone is hooting and hollering even though she doesn't know what is going on. My 2 month old just poops when the hawks are playing.
I guess what I'm saying is- I am the best Cyclone dad ever :)
