I like the SI predictions!

I've never paid attention to Texas' schedule until that article. They do have a tough road schedule, and I think going 7-2 in conference would put us in the conference championship game.

I've been saying the same thing.. A major item that sticks out to me is the fact that we play both TCU and Baylor at the beginning of the conference season. Both of those teams, in my opinion, are going to get a ton better by the end of the year. Texas plays at both TCU and Baylor towards the end of the season, and both of those teams are going to be chomping at the bit to get an upset.

If we take care of business early against the front half of our schedule, that Texas game could very well be the game to go to the Big 12 title game.. again. But this time, it's in Ames on a cold night in November.

When was the last time any legitimate sportswriter picked ISU to win the conference in football? Maybe somebody did before Seneca Wallace's 2nd year. Maybe.

This is pretty cool. I'm not fully adjusted to it yet but it's still pretty cool.

Also, of note in there, more Nebraska hype. God, I shouldn't care but I know will not be able to prevent myself looking every Saturday praying to god they crap the bed.

Meh, at this point I want Nebraska to turn the corner. Iowa has had a stupid easy West schedule and somebody else needs to emerge as an annual contender. I couldn't careless about Nebby at this point, they aren't our problem anymore.

I'm with him on Texas and no one else seems to be. I just don't see why so many are picking them not only to win the league but make the playoffs. They definitely could I just think it's more likely they have 4 losses (or more) than that.

I agree that they are getting way too much hype but I can't get on board with them not finishing in the top 25. Their D is gong to be interesting to watch, they lost some studs after last year and Texas has done a terrible job filling holes with all the talent they bring in.

I, like many long time Cyclone fans and alums, am looking at this year's pre-season excitement in awe, and a whole lot of fear. I've really never seen this before (I went to Iowa State from 1979 -1983). Perhaps Earle Bruce's teams. I wasn't around for Johnny Majors. But the hype machine then was nothing like it is now.

I really hope it all plays out. Everyone thinks their team will win the national championship until the first kickoff. I've been chief among them. I have extra incentive to hope for these predictions to come true as my dad is battling stage 4 cancer, and I'd really, really like it if he can make it to see the season all the way through.

Can't wait! Go State!!

I agree, except for when they play Iowa. I'm fine with them winning that one!

Am I the only one hoping for an outright blizzard for that game? We finally get a home game against Texas in November, possibly with everything on the line. I want it as uncomfortable for them as possible.
