But have any of you done any reading on this Joe Ehrmann cat?! What an individual. Here is the unique thing experience has taught me (you Ladies & fellas of Faith can’t help but agree) people with that kind of character don’t hang with others of dissimilar morals and ethics.

They don’t build relationships with them……….

They don’t send their football players across the country with the assurances of what a great guy said other coach is…………

They most assuredly don’t tie their good name to said individual in an “event”……..

I love logic and it is inconceivable that a person of his merit would hang with a known criminal like Ferentz. Unless of course that same Kirk Ferentz is actually an upstanding human being, doing a dang tough job in this day and age. The least of which is raising 5 kids (I have 4) in a fish bowl, with loads of peer pressure.

I am particularly interested in what a person of Faith might say to this. They should have decent powers of discernment and they would know this to be true. There isn't much to dispute about here really and I'd guess there isn't much to say.

Just a thought.................

Is this the guy Steve Deace was talking about this morning around 7:15 when he and Jon were arguing about whatever crap KF said the other day?

I've read his (Ehrmann's) book and it is great. If you have, or work with young people I'd highly recommend it.

I don't see any mention of a Faith base but I concur he seems like a genuinely outstanding human being with great passion & empathy. We could all learn a thing or two about that!

Can this get shuffled off to the cave then?

Here's two things experience has taught me

1) hawk fans will do and say about anything to distract from the issue at hand.

2) people who regularly promote "faith" are generally the first ones to act in contrast to what they preach.

One of the Beach Boys let Charles Manson and his entourage crash at his house for a couple weeks. The Catholic church assisted Nazi war criminals in their escape(s) to Argentina. Experience has taught me that sometimes good people can be missled by evil in its purest form...:jimlad:

I believe I'd do little research on the Beach Boys and the Catholic church if I were you……………..

As for me all I have to do is pick up the Bible to see good people doing bad things.................

I thought after reading some of the disparaging things you were saying in the other thread you might like a new perspective

Chad

What did I say that was disparaging? In the other threads, I don't think it's a stretch to say that I had more positives to say about the man than anyone other than the blind followers. I'm simply not on board with the idea that they can be used to buy-down his shortcomings.

If the fact this guy did a presser with kf is your trump card - that is honestly the saddest thing across this whole discussion.

Chizik, Bowden - tons of people talk up their faith. So what?

That is probably the most accurate post I have ever read.

More great examples of "us" jumping to conclusions about people whose shoes we haven't stepped in. Toss Tom Osborne in there as well. Many suggest him to be a great man, but not those who hate NU!

Incidentally I see no mention of Mr. Ehrmann being a man of Faith. I am only applying logic in this scenario. A person that is trying to “reachâ€￾ people or “sellâ€￾ a book don’t choose an unsavory character to host a charity event with him.

I’m not being a jerk here as you are solid enuff Internet entity. All the same there is a dearth of logic in the world today and it is rarely applied to this particular subject

Tom Osborne may be a great man in other areas of like, he may not, but he also exemplifies the 'win at all costs' mentality that I'm going to keep finding offensive. The ends do not justify the means, whether it helps my side or not.

Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh, and there we go......................who is deflecting the issue now?!?!

Incidentally I can just as easily say people without Faith are just as quick to use your line! Now what? It’s called an excuse and scapegoat.

Incidentally I’m not a good classical example for the line of reasoning you are trying to hang your hat on friend. I have readily, on this very site, shared my sins and failings and I am also calling people to be more compassionate and understanding and LESS judgmental.

Honestly the understanding of language, humanity and debate isn’t it what it used to be. And you think you are on to something

The UofI is paying a motivational speaker $10,000 to come and talk on their campus -- and somehow it means that the Iowa football program with it's 31 player arrests in the last 2 years is not out of control? If it weren't so sad it would be funny. It is sad because KF and the University are wasting so much money on a motivational speaker at a time when the University is laying off long-serving employees who are going to struggle to take care of their families. They should be ashamed of themselves. I'd like to see KF meet with the employees who are getting laid off this week, and their families, and explain to them why they have to be fired because there's no money to pay them....but there's plenty of money to pay this dude to come and talk for a day.

Seriously, KF and Faith do not belong in the same sentence in this conversation. This "one guy cant be bad becasue he hosted this other guy" sounds a whole lot like the seven degrees of separations thing. (Think Kevin Bacon) But please, please separate the two. KF is not a bad coach, bad father, bad husband or a bad person. He is not pathetic in his discipline. He is inconsistent. He faces the same problem every coach does. Starters get different treatment than practice squad guys. Life is not fair, the hot chick prefers the better guy (see Mrs. CyLax:wink:). It's how coaches deal with it that separates them. While I do think that he is flawed, as we all are, I seriously cringe at anyone that would give him a free pass because he hosted some other guy.

Just my opinion.

I called his disciplinary record pathetic. I'm not budging on that one. If the record was solid, the stuff would slow down, even stop.

As far as hosting, plenty of evangelistic crusades have been hosted by people who wouldn't have bought into the message being preached. Sad, but historical.

I won’t belittle us both by rereading all your thoughts, but it is no secret that you have spoken strongly about him. I really don’t follow your feelings on his disciplinary records. There are maybe a few inconsistencies but if I employed him I wouldn’t have to many questions of him.

I don’t follow the next thing…….….

As for the last thing that is true, but I don’t think Joe is trying to reach KF as I see no mention of him being “saved”. He is selling Books and helping people.
