Here's my take:

1. Running back
2. Defensive Line (depth gives them an edge over CB)
3. Corner back
4. Wide Receiver
5. Linebacker (2 All-Big 12 players)
6. Quarterback
7. Safety
8. Offensive Line
9. Kicker/Punter (Total unknown)

How would you rank them?

1. Running back
1a. Defensive Line (depth gives them an edge over CB)

4. Quarterback
5. Wide Receiver
6. Linebacker (2 All-Big 12 players).
7. Safety
8. Offensive Line
9. Kicker/Punter (Total unknown)

I think our Quarterback room is the most talented its ever been. I think our RB/D-Line is neck and neck when it comes to talent and depth. We have have the best corner in the Big 12 w/ Peavy. I think the talent at WR is there, just a lot of unknown with a few of the guys. I think 6-8 could be interchangeable. Our O-Line has the depth, we just need experience to get better.

I don't really give depth at Quarterback as much weight as I would depth at other positions. That's why I put QB lower on my list than I assume others will. Kyle is great at what he does, but I don't think he's as elite as our 2 LBs and Butler/Jones at WR. Slight edge to those groups.

This is still my biggest concern and the show me position on the team. Yes, it is nice that there are a lot of bodies that are available to play, but besides the starters we have not seen or heard much about the rest of these guys. There has been a lot of reports about this guy or that guy pushing to play at LBer, DB, DL, WR, etc. Not so much for the OL. Besides to 2 young guys that have pretty much locked up the open positions we are not hearing a lot.

I think the kickers and punter are going to be serviceable. This coaching staff put a lot of effort into special teams, and pretty well knows what they are looking for in position recruiting.

7 TE
8 Oline
9 Safety
10 K/P

I think the oline has the potential to be one of the best groups by the end of the season
Edit: Didn't rank TE

Not hearing much about the O-line might be a good thing. Since JGJ, Meeker and Knipfel are juniors, if we were hearing rave reviews about them, that might be a read flag. They should be good. We have heard more and more about their leadership qualities.

I'd have to put our DL above our RB, in my honest opinion.

Underselling the WR's. This is pretty difficult this year and that is a great thing.

1. RB
2. WR & TE
3. DL (who ever saw that coming at ISU?)
4. Corners
5. QB
6. LB
7. Safety
8. O-line
9, Kickers

No huge disputes with your list, but I think QB has to be higher, and O line gets the nod over safety due to returning experience.

1. RB
2. DL
3. QB
4. CB
5. LB/WR
7. OL
8. S
9. K/P

Just like our powerful teams in the '70s, the RB, DL, QB and WR groups are leading an overall solid team.

I usually don’t get involved in stuff like this, and it’s mostly because I don’t feel I have adequate knowledge to do so, but the fact most aren’t putting our corners in the top 3 is pretty exciting. I mean, a guy like Peavy by himself, in years past, would have been enough to put that position group in the top 1 or 2 as part of a similar discussion.

I respectfully disagree. For 1, safety is just a 2 person position most of the time, so not near as many guys to fill the position. Also, ISU won it's bowl game against a very high powered offense without their starting safeties. Seemed to work out okay.

The OL could run block for nothing last year. They will have to show me more than a bunch of big guys before I will rate them ahead of any position on the team.

Agree. Our offense really sputtered despite having DM and Lazard. It’s tough to put the OL above any group but keep kickers, and I wouldn’t have the QBs too high either.

Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I feel pretty good about that group, whereas the safety position is all new and unproven.

Who started in the Liberty Bowl last year? (Honest question, as I can't seem to find anything other than the starters were out) Were they both seniors too? CMC was pretty high on the JC kid, and I have not heard anything negative to be concerned about him. Braxton Lewis has done a pretty good job back there when called on.
