Okay, I'm exaggerating, but want to change the tone.
Question: How can ISU go about moving to the next level in the Big 12?
I'm just assuming if Kansas State and Baylor can do it, there's no reason we can't.
What do we have? Great coaches in CPR and Wally to make the most of the talent. Great fans...who else would bring 25,000 fans to a bowl against a Conference USA team?
What must we change? Total remake of the offense, whether that means a different offensive scheme, recruiting strategy, or different coaching staff.
I did a look through ISU football history and found CPR is basically the #2 coach in ISU football in terms of winning percentage since 1960. What he's missing is that "special" season, that 8-3 season that Earle Bruce, Johnny Majors and Dan McCarney each had in their 4th or 5th season.
Here's to hoping CPR will make the tough decisions and evaluations to move to the next level. We obviously won't make the jump to the next level just doing the same things and just hoping we'll get better.
