How about the OL?

Getting good information and insight into our "skill" players' performances at the Spring Game but I'm really curious about how our Offensive and Defensive lines looked and performed...

Anyone who attended care to share some thoughts here? TIA

As far as I can tell the OL dominated the DL. The offense looked pretty sharp in almost every aspect. The defense made good tackles, had decent coverage, but the DL didn't stop the running game very well and didn't pressure the QB much. This is what everyone expected before the game. I hope we can get better in this one area.

the OL dominating the DL shouldnt really be a suprise though.. Idk what to expect from the DL, but we have an exceptionally good OL

Reggie was a great player but I think this unit will be better than last years. Just a really great group that has played a lot of games together. They know every detail of the offensive system and it will show this year. They will dominate a lot of DL's this year so no surprise what they did to ours today. JMHO!!!

Any offensive line will look good against our DL, Nebraska s 3rd string DL has more talent than our 1st string

Give Wally and the D-Line a chance. I see little reason to think they won't at least be as good as last year, lets hope they're better.

Last year's DL was a glaring weakness. Just "better" wont' be enough.

It's amazing how there are so many positive people on here.

Just speaking the truth. Go look at Nebraska's commitments on the DL over the last few years. They are loaded. We are not. It's amazing that so many talented players will be sitting on NU's bench. ISU's coaches have loads of playing time to offer and absolutely must sign 4 or 5 quality defensive linemen in 2011. No more excuses.

Myself and everyone around me were underwhelmed by the #1 O-Line. In fact, it was the most disappointing aspect of the game for me. They really did not open many holes in the 1st half at all. Pass protection was OK.
They were serviceable, but far from the all star O-Line we'd like to think we have.

Did Rashawn Parker play? Even though I was at the game and saw he was a captain, I never looked to see if he played in the game.

"Myself and everyone around me were underwhelmed by the #1 O-Line."

For an optimist, that would imply that the DL was much better than expected...a nice sign of progress. And with Nebraska's great DL and all...we still rolled into Lincoln and whipped their butt. So I'd say Wally is doing something right...as is Herman.

Who knows? This could be the case or it could just be comfort level of playing against them day in and day out.

The games will be the true story, but I really expected there to be some gaping holes opened up for the RBs and I just didn't see it until late in the game, but then it was hard to tell who was running against who.

I also though there was adequate pressure on Arnaud which was surprised or disappointing depending on how you look at it (O line vs D line)

I think that the DL will eventually be solid. Bailey Johnson is just coming back from his injury. Alburtis and Rump have seen plenty of snaps and can be decent. We've heard good things about McDonough. That's a good four man rotation at the very least. At DE, they were playing without Parker, who is a likely starter. And, Rony Nelson could well be a starter too. That's a good four man rotation there as well. Both spots also have some good depth in the third string in Moore, Laing, Black, Mansfield, Woods and Scott. Not to mention, Latimore could see some time at DE in passing situations.

looked to me like lattimer will permanently be a de. i am excited for our dl. they won't be great by any means but 2nd year in the system and i think they will overachieve. i really liked what i saw out of McDonough and crew against our 1's
