Idea: How about a "Dislike" option?

Nope, might hurt someone's feelings. There used to be negative rep, but that hurt people's feelings so they got rid of it, essentially making rep meaningless. Well, more meaningless than it already was.

I don't think a dislike button would be so bad, since a person couldn't type a personal message to go along with it. Plus, I'd like to set the record for most dislikes... I think I'd get it fairly quickly

Like other mentioned, people got bent way out of shape when people gave them negative rep. People couldn't handle the fact that someone on the internet didn't agree with them

The problem is that it shouldn't be used just because you disagree with someone on a message board. Neg rep should have been used only when someone was being a true d-bag while attacking other posters or situations of the like.
