Hotels near Chicago

A. Stay downtown, pay to park, take a relatively stress free cab/uber to UC.
B. Stay in the burbs, stress about traffic and pay to park and deal with a mess at UC.

Personally I'm going with A every time.

In Chicago? Yeah, parking downtown is pretty much a house payment.

Post-privatization Chicago's parking meters became significantly higher than Manhattan's.

When I moved to LA I found myself laughing at how ridiculously cheap parking is here. The meters still take nickels. I think if a Chicago meter took nickels the nickel would run out before I could insert another nickel.

Totally agree. Stay downtown, park at the hotel, shouldn't be more than $75/night to park, uber it from there. Stress free.

C. Stay in the burbs, park for free, take a relatively stress free Uber to UC/into the city when you want.

Going to cost the same or less as parking downtown but easier.

Where is everyone staying? Didn't realize you would have to pay to park at a hotel.

Have you ever left Iowa?

Use Parkwhiz, or a similar app. Just went to Chicago 3 weeks ago. Stayed downtown for a bulls game and private tour. Parking was $62 at the hotel and $42 a night at the ramp. But was $75 total for Thursday thru Sunday via Parkwhiz.

Stay in Oak Park and take the green line like 6 stops to the United Center.

Dear god no, do not waste this amazing opportunity (Chi, Sweet 16) and stay in the burbs

Dont understand this mentality but to each their own.

My hotel is just where I'm sleeping. I'm not tied to the area. With Uber I can be anywhere at any time in the greater Chicago area for a pretty reasonable price.

Some people like to sleep downtown and that's their prerogative though

With hotel prices as low as they are I would stay in the city & pay for parking at the hotel. In the long run you're not out much more than if you stay in the burbs & train/Uber into the city, plus it'll be more fun in the city before/after the game. The Metra or El from O'hare or most burbs is going to take well over an hour to get you to the United Center.

There are also tons of Air BnB's in Chicago which is a good option to stay in a neighborhood (more relaxed than downtown) & not pay for parking. My parents have stayed in multiple without complaints when we didn't have an extra room for them.
