Very happy for him in a tough situation. Gives me another reason to cheer for Porzingis at least

Situation is really not that tough. Has 1 allstar caliber player already in Carmelo, a young PG who showed some ability last year in Grant, Porzingis, Lopez, probably a decent free agent group coming in, all their picks going forward, and Phil Jackson's support.

His situation in PHX was much much worse after the fist year & a half than the Knicks situation right now. His players revolted against him, his owner was cheap, and the GM did an absolutely awful job.

Welp, ISU BBall lineage on full display now in NBA coaching ranks.

Odds on a former Cyclone being a coach in the NBA 3 years from now?

That's a tough job. I read a Wall Street journal article that it would be a good thing if Jackson hired hornacek because hornacek isn't committed to the triangle offense.

I do not especially like the Knicks, but I don't hate them like I hate the Bulls. So go Jeff!

? He's been coaching for three years in the nba already. It's not really like it added another ISU branch that wasn't there (well, technically it did because he didn't coach the second half of the season. )

Little different market exposure between NYC and Phoenix coupled with working for Phil.

Well, Phil Jackson loved Hornacek as a player - even said he tried to trade for him for the Bulls. We'll see how this works out.

Heard Bruce Bowen talking about this on Mike and Mike today. Said he likes Hornacek because he holds players accountable, wants good practices, etc.

It's unfortunate that holding players accountable gets you fired in a coaching job.

Sounds like Jimmy Butlers kind of coach.

I'm not a big NBA guy and far from in the loop but from my seat I dont see Melo being a big fan of this.

I got Horny's autograph at men's game back in '06/'07. Had an old card of him as a 76er. Was probably the most star struck I've been in my life. Always thought he looked goofy and nerdy watching him growing up, especially with the jazz when he had to guard guys like MJ and a young Kobe. Loved watching him drill 3's though, I always got super excited whenever he'd get the ball out near the arc
