Already have seen Ben Stiller, Muhammad Ali, Justin Timberlake, Sheryl Crowe, Taylor Swift and others.

Very heartwarming.

It was an easy choice for NBC. Only way to match the competition in the ratings... air the same thing.

I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, but hearing her perform an excellent Better Than Ezra b-side was pretty cool. There have been quite a few good covers. Shakira butchering The Pretenders was painful.

It's been quite a showing by all sorts of celebrities thus far.

Wow, i'm really impressed with the people they have gotten together here. Now its DMB, Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington, etc etc. very very cool.

Guess it just me but I feel like hanging myself after watching 2 hours of that. The music made me feel like I was at a funeral. Just because you're raising money for a tragic event like this doesn't mean that you can't rock. Hell I heard Larry King had Snoop Dog

Commence calling me an *******, but I'm starting to get Haiti'd out... I've donated, but now I'm just ready to let my dollars go to work and go about my life.

Ready...... Commence the lynching...

Nothing like entertainers pimping themselves out to get in on free publicity.

Some of them actually THINK they're doing good, but this is all about keeping your image current. Agents everywhere were popping Tums, hoping "their" star gets a decent billing, in an effort to exploit other peoples' pain and suffering.

Did you know that there actually are a small number of celebs who quietly do charity work? Harrison Ford, for instance, donates scads of time and money to do search and rescue work with his aircraft. Oh, and risks his precious hide, to boot.

How are they not doing good? The reports ive read said the telethon has raised about 58 million. Sure, the celeb comes away looking good for it, but who cares?

Yeah celebs shouldn't use their star power to help others in need. :jimlad:

While most of the celebs are probably donating, I am willing to bet they didnt go on this telethon and perform for free. I'll be real interested to see how this money is spent in Haiti.

Actually, they do perform for "free". But the P.R. value of doing this is tremendous. So, to see this is "heartwarming" is questionable, in my eyes. More like a cold heartless calculation.

As far as how the money is spent, I'll give you 10 to 1 odds on mostly wasted. What is needed is an evaluation of what is needed, where and how badly.
