I know most of you think there is absolutely no way Iowa loses to Iowa State this year. We have all read your posts about how dominate Iowa's offensive/defensive lines are going to be and that the game last year was not as close as the score says. And that this year will be more of the same.

I wonder....what would happen if UNI comes down to Iowa City and beats the Hawks? What if Iowa State comes out and hangs 40-50 points on NDSU in a blow-out victory? Would your expectations as Hawk fans change? Would you think its just a fluke and that you would still dominate the Cyclones when the game is played?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is going to happen at all. I guess I'm just curious is all.

I would have waited until 9/1 until you posted this.

Isu will have 2 physical games before their trip to IC, just hope we don't have many injuries before heading down

I mean, I don't think it's any sort of lock Iowa beats UNI or Iowa State. Obviously in the situation you present things would look a lot differently but lets be fair, what was the last team you hung 50 on in a blow out and like wise for Iowa losing to UNI. Neither are impossible but just not super likely.

Not going to answer for any of the others here, but I've said that it wouldn't surprise me much to see ISU win the game, regardless of the games played prior. Iowa is not as good as they were in the 2009 and 2010 games where they won by 30+ points, and am expecting it to be a pretty close game. I do think Iowa will win, but not to the point of putting money on it.

If your scenario plays true, I would certainly not think Iowa would dominate ISU and would fully expect and accept the loss prior to the game.

Iowa fans who don't think there's a real chance UNI comes in and gets a win are kidding themselves. As for expectations, I always keep mine nice and low. Been an Iowa fan for a long time. I kinda think we'll get an ok win against ISU, maybe 10-14 points at the most. If you guys thump NDSU and we fall to UNI, I'd probably go in expecting a close loss.

I just feel like the hoks are a terrible matchup for us. We're not built to stop 1960's style offenses.

This is where I'm at with Iowa. Always much better to have low-moderate expectations and be surprised if it turns out better.

Iowa is favored against UNI, but much worse teams than UNI have come into Kinnick and won. UNI has good QB, very good RB, lots of experience back on both sides of ball. They won't be awed and will play hard.

UNI eeking out a close win against Iowa might be more likely than ISU hanging 50 pts on NDSU and blowing them out IMO.

Well, this is the sixth year for CPR and Yancy McKnight and his S/C program. I would hope we're physical enough to stand up to a 1-AA team and K-State - and they should be worried about injuries by playing us?

?????????

i'd love to hear you elaborate on your logic here a bit further.
