Just wondering if the players you have talked to this week indicate a sense of urgency with coach. Any different attitude this week or business as usual? Thanks as always.

Oh yes, the attitude is completely different, a sense of urgency for sure. However many of the guys kept their cool. JJ is just working to top last week, not only in his own performance but the teams performance. Chizik has been good after a loss keeping these guys focused. These men are hungry and you can be sure that there will be no lack of effort from them. Allen Bell is going to be excellent to have for 3 seasons, he is turning into a leader. But to answer your question, Yes. Totally

The more I hear about this guy, the more I like him. Listening to his clone zone interviews, he's a strange mix of cocky and humble. He basically said that Chizik wasn't unhappy with his performance, but felt he should have had over 200 yards. When he looked at the tape and listened to what the coach was pointing out, he said "Man coach, you're right. I should have had over 200". I also feel he truly doesn't care about his stats as long as the team wins, and LOVE his attitude, optimism, and work ethic. He sounds very confident that the team will do some very good things this year.

I just wish the sense of urgency from the players would've been there from the start, not after an opening day home loss.

Well, at least this week, we're not hearing how we're "facing another nationally rated team, no doubt about it".

But we ARE facing a nationally rated team next week - or at least they finished last season rated #17 and didn't do anything last week to detract from that rating :spinny:

My PATIENCE IS RUNNING THIN...I've been waiting for a conference championship since 1962....

Old and Impatient

A team can have a sense of urgency, but the fact remains if the talent level isn't where it needs to be, game results are probably not going to change all that much. Don't mean to be a "debbie downer" and I hope we look like an entirely different team Saturday, but I wouldn't expect a night and day difference from what you saw against Kent State.

I'm hopeful we eliminate the stupid penalties and turnovers....beyond that I'm not sure how much better we will be, but if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot with things we can control (penalties/turnovers) then it should translate into better results. The question is whether the talent level is great enough to allow better results to equal wins or just "better losses"??

Attitude, energy and effort can make up for a lot of talent-based deficiencies.

Are you my wife??? If you are... I will be late for dinner as I will be playing golf until sunset.

- keep.
