I'm going to Wrigley for the first time next Friday afternoon for the Cards@Cubs. Anyone have any suggestions for how to get there and what to do when I'm there? I'll be driving there from my home in Johnston, so I'm thinking about driving to a blue line train stop, taking that to a bus stop, and taking a bus to Wrigley.

If you're going to get on a blue line train, why not just take it to the Red Line and get off at Wrigley. No need to mess with a bus at all. We always just park at the Forest Park stop and ride the Blue all the way in and jump on the red.

That's has always worked best for me. I always park near O'hare airport, there is a park and ride ramp there and you take the blue line down to Addison, get off the the train and directly across the street is the bus stop you need to get to to get the bus right down next to wrigley(its hard to miss the stop;) ) This has always worked out real well for me. After the game the buses are lined up outside and you just jmp on one heading out and catch the blue line again. Also if you want to stay the night, there are tons of hotels out there by Ohare as well.
Round trip for bus/train cost $18 for 4 people last time i went i think.

What he said. Also, make sure you get to the game at least 3-4 hours early so you can go to the bars beforehand. The gates open 2 hours before first pitch and during that time is batting practice, which is the best time for you to get a ball. And I hope you have bleacher tickets, its the only way to watch a cubs game:smile:

I have parked at the park and ride at the Howard station on the Red Line. Have to get into Chicago to get to it, but once you are there, just a straight shot to the park.

Also, don't know which way you are going in, but there is construction currently on I-55 north and south just north of I-80. I would avoid that.

My brother lives about a mile north of Wrigley, just south of Lawrence which runs out to I-90/94. Pretty decent neighborhood with plenty of free onstreet parking during the weekdays. We park there, jump on the redline from Wilson 2 stops down to Addison.

$2/person and about 8 minutes of travel time.

Once there, my favorite place has been Bernies on the corner of Clark and Waveland. There's an upstairs that isn't readily apparent. And they have the AC cranked and tons of high-def tvs. Good food at a reasonable price and beer isn't bad either. Only problem is that they often seem short staffed. So get ther a little early (for a seat as well) and get your order in fast.

Get in fast if you have bleachers - line will start early in the morning. Although IMO - HIGHLY overrated.

We're driving up to Minneapolis that night, so leaving my car way out west sounds like a good idea.

Our tickets are lower deck in the grandstand (don't remember where). I'd like to sit in the bleachers some day, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to sit there first time, especially for a Cards-Cubs game.
