Hawkeye FB Schedule

After getting to play in BIG 10 west for the past decades the Hawks still get a cupcake conference schedule. Per this article using ESPN rankings their conference schedule will be the 3rd easiest next fall.

Cue up 9 wins and a mid tier bowl thrashing. Sounds familiar.
Yep, they caught a break with Washington pretty much replacing their whole team and UCLA being a mess right now.

Who really knows. They certainly benefit from Washington being completely gutted and UCLA having a new coach. But it's impossible to know 6 months out what these teams could wind up being.

Hey, they're finally going to get that first (game played in the) Rose Bowl win since the 50s next year.

It's a big deal....

I’d smash the under on that wager until we see a competent offense with that schedule. Outside of the two non con G5 games the only auto win on that schedule is probably northwestern.

Outside of Minn and the OSU auto loss, the other teams all have either first or second year coaches so it’s really hard to judge but until Iowa shows it can actually score points I’m taking the under.

Its more difficult because they actually have to play Ohio State and on the road to boot. EIU made hay when they could get into the last 5 games of the schedule playing the weaker west teams and getting on a roll. NW, Wisconsin and Nebraska all should improve having their coaches there for a 2nd year, but they get them at home along with ISU, which should help them out.
Getting Wisconsin at Nov. 2nd and then next week @ UCLA is going to put a strain on any program, then take a week off and play at Maryland could be a test.

Out of the 4/5 best teams, Michigan, PSU, Ohio State, USC and Oregon, they only play one of them this year, the following year is when it will be impossible.

I hope it’s 30-40 spots lower and ISU gets more wins than Iowa while claiming SOS doesnt matter at all.

Flip the script on the past 20-25 years. Iowa fans will surely agree and not be massive hypocrites.
I think it's nice that both fanbases are going to get something they're not used to.

How's ISU's SoS looking?
After playing one of the more difficult conference schedules in the big 12 last year, ISU will get a much deserved breather next year. Iowa doesn't deserve an easier conference schedule as they have had arguable the easiest conference slate since the Big 10 split between east/west. I say arguably because Illinois' conference slate was just as bad as Iowa's during that time. Either way, Iowa has had the easiest to second easiest conference slate overall for 10 years. They don't deserve another easier conference schedule compared to other members of their conference

All we know for sure is SOS doesn’t matter at all, not even a little. I mean it hasn’t when ISU’s average sos has been 11th for over a solid decade.

Have not seen any rankings yet. Roads games at Utah, Kansas, W VA an home games vs TX Tech, K State and UCF. I guarantee you it will be tetter than 3rd from bottom.
Of the Big 12.

Seems pretty clear that with OuT and no more round-robin schedule ISU will be getting a much deserved, easier schedule, while Iowa will no longer have the cupcake West schedule every year.
