Anyone have any recommendations to have a pair of boots resoled.

I've got a pair of Cabela's Outfitter insulated hunting boots that I've had for about 13 years. These are by far the best insulated boots I've found and I don't like the new version that Cabela's makes. The uppers are in great shape but the soles are starting to wear pretty good. Want to get them resoled before winter gets here.

Would prefer a place that uses Vibram soles and located in Central Iowa.

Thanks

I had some resoled and believe it or not the place is in Jordan Creek mall. I tried to avoid that joint at all costs but on the main floor on whatever store it is on the far west side (Younkers maybe), I think it is the last hallway exit that goes north of the main walkway, there is a store where a guy did mine 3 yrs ago and all is holding up well yet. Not sure if he's still there, but he's good

Any ideas on a name. Looked online and didn't see anything.

And yes yes I avoid that place unless absolutely last resort.

There's a place in Ankeny that's good. I can't remember the name, it's a little off beaten path, maybe by the fire station. I think they do boots and even saddle repair.

Found it. Veach's Custom Leather, 201 SW Cherry St., Ankeny. 515-964-8331.

Thanks. I'll check them out too.

Has anyone used Hylands in Ames before?

Ive used them to put a new rubber heel pad on my cowboy boots before. I think the cost was around 21 dollars but boy if they didnt oil and shine the hell out of all the scuffs on them old boots to make em look as new as they could. I had a pair of leather bottoms there and I think it was around 60 or 80 bucks to have them resoled. I passed on that offer.

I've used Hyland a few times. He does great work at a fair price IMO. The hours aren't ideal but can be worked around.

The guys at Hyland Shoe Repair do great work and are big Cyclone fans. One is a friend of mine and a regular poster on this site. Their hours are 7:30-3:30 M-F at 301 Kellog.

I'll also add that they usually have your shoes done in only 2 or 3 days which is faster than anywhere else around here. Just make sure you take cash or check because they don't do cards.
