I have been hearing that some people have decided to stop watching NFL games because of the Kaepernick kneeling protest and I am curious what others think. If you have a specific reasoning for your answer, feel free to share.

I haven't, but I saw a poll out earlier this week that showed 32% of NFL fans have stopped watching. It was only 1000 people, but still interesting none the less.

My first reaction was "Kaepernik ruins everything" but then I remembered that the 49ers sucked before he got there.

Good luck keeping this out of the cave...

The NFL has become what baseball used to be to me. I will put it on the background if I'm working around the house. Sometimes, I will sit down and watch some or all of a game. But I'm definitely not planning my day around it. Not sure what's changed, other than it's kind of a boring product anymore.

The Bears stink this year, and I can only handle so much losing. Perhaps if the Cyclones can start a win streak, I may pay attention to the NFL again.

Commercial breaks every fourteen seconds made me stop watching the NFL years ago.

Between the above, and the awfulness of the Bears, I can't stand to watch NFL football. I might have it on in the background while prep meals for the week, but it isn't something I'm actively watching.

Protesting Keapernic's protest by boycotting the NFL is the kind of protest Keapernic would indulge in had he been against Keapernic's protest.

Agreed and this has hurt my interest with college football some too. I think I saw that college football games have increased by an average of 25-30 minutes per game in the last 10 years. That is a lot. I'm sure the NFL has too quite a bit.

I really only care about my fantasy team but rarely sit down and watch a full game. I watch a lot of football on Saturdays so my family wouldn't be to happy with me if I was on the couch all weekend.

I think Keapernick is a d bag but I thought he was before the protest also.

I quit watching a long time ago unless the game has specific interest to me. Mostly the Packers and Chiefs.

That said, I highly doubt it's a Keapernick issue. I was listening to Rich Eisen today and he was listing off the teams and QB's in the early season matchups. In short, they suck. Likely the root cause of the disinterest.

i only watch the vikings and MNF. I couldn't care less about the protest. I believe in the first amendment so if they want to take a knee, raise a fist, or even do jumping jacks go for it. I put my hand on my heart because I love america, i never thought it was about keeping minorities down.

I only started watching ISU football because of tailgating and it's importance to the overall athletic department. If ISU didn't have a football team, I wouldn't watch any football. Too slow, I like basketball, hockey, soccer.

Removing some TV timeouts from college basketball made what was already great action/time even better. 40 minutes of action in 2 hours or less is great, especially when you factor in free throw's as action while the time is stopped.

I am watching more NFL now than I have before. The Vikings being good is a big part of this.

Also the fact that NFL games are closer than ever. There are more one-score games in the 4th quarter than there ever have been. Having a RedZone channel makes the ending of those games amazing.
