NFL: Harvin not happy with Vikes?

If players can hold out, teams should be able to refuse to pay them if they aren't as good as their contract suggests, and re-structure their contract for LESS money. I'd let them hold out and see how long they can go without getting paid.

You realize teams cut players all the time, right?

Welcome to the NFL?

This is exactly what happens all the time. First round draft pick busts are constantly restructuring their contracts so they don't get axed.

I agree, but trevman said that teams should be able to pay a player less if they don't live up to their contract. They can, and they do that all the time now.

this.

The only people that are required to abide by an NFL contract are the players. Teams can void them and not have to pay another dime, if they feel it's no longer a good deal. Holding out is the only recourse that players have if they are dissatisfied.
