Harrison Barnes is gonna get paid

Good deal for him. :yes:

All hypothetical, but I think with that kind of money, I'd retire at the ripe old age of 25. Just fish and drink beer for the rest of my life :twitcy:
 
Wish he woulda went to Iowa State. Maybe some of that contract would have found its way into the AD's bank account.
 
Since he said he'd always be an Iowa state fan, maybe he can donate a small amount.

If he would have, McDermott may not have left for Creighton (see summer series what-if podcast from CW and Blum)

Barnes is still the better overall player. I love Doug but he won't be a better NBA player than Barnes.

Can't make much of an argument for McDermott being better at this point when he couldn't even get off the bench for Thibs.

Barnes is an elite corner 3 guy and good, versatile defender and only 23. Those kind of guys get paid in today's NBA.

I know that he gets good minutes, and is a good guy, but he's probably what, the 4th, 5th option on that team? Looking over the roster, I also didn't know that Chris Babb is with the Warriors now and not the Celtics?

Being the 4th or 5th option on offense on that team is nothing to be ashamed of. His value and versatility as a defender has a lot to do with that big offer.

I never said he should be ashamed. It was more of a minimum $16 mil salary that shocked me, and that's why I said I don't follow salaries so it must be the new norm.

Exactly. Barnes is very talented, everyone wishes he was more aggressive to use all of it. But he may get $20 mil from some team by next summer...
