I thought it might be fun to remember some famous home run calls. Of course Kirk Gibson's in the World Series comes to mind, among others. This one always resonated with me, because of both its simplicity and its creativity:

Jack Buck was one of the greatest. (His son tries hard, but he'll never be near what his dad was.)

Add yours!!!

Might as well end the thread.

Way to end your own thread!

Simple, direct, captures the moment and then let's the crowd noise do the rest of the work.

Bobby Thompson says hold on a moment.

In elementary school, 4th grad I think, we had to give presentations on significant happenings in a period of time. And it had to be done in the form of a news report/show (as well as one "happening" had to be acted out)

So we got the 50-60s and decided to do our report as the Anchors from SportsCenter. Had pieces on Oscar Robertson's 61-62 triple double season. I think an Olympics report, and then we acted out the Shot Heard Round the World.

My teacher told me that if we acted that out, I had to hit the ball. Luckily I piped one to almost directly "left field"(back left wall of the classroom) and ran around the room skipping a la Bobby, as the audio of this played in the background. Gotta say, one of my better school presentations of my academic career.

I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but if I'm going off the best I've ever seen while watching live, it'd be Joe Buck's 2011 WS game 6 HR call as a tribute to his Dad.

I remember watching this game live, we were staying at my Grandparents following ISU tying Okie St earlier in the day, something like 6-6.I was only 9 or 10 and was supposed to be sleeping but crawled to the doorway of the room I was sleeping so I could catch a peek at the game my gpa and dad were watching. I'm not a Twins fan, just a really random memory that has stuck with me for over 25 years.

Games 6 and 7 of that '91 Series were, by far, the most exciting, nerve-wracking, tension filled baseball I ever watched. (Of course, as a Twins fan, I'm biased, but whatever.) Game 6 was a back and forth seesaw, baserunners galore without scoring, goofy double plays, decoys, you name it. And then you had 9 innings of scoreless ball in Game 7 - holy crap, the game hung on every pitch! Morris recalls the top of the tenth, he had walked the leadoff hitter and Tom Kelly comes out to the mound. Morris is thinking "There's no ******* way you're taking me out of this game". And of course Kelly just wanted to talk about how Morris wanted to pitch the hitter.
