Anyone watch him play at all in college or anything? Hitting .500 (10-20) since getting called up to AAA. He'll be up in Chicago in no time. He was drafted last year......VERY few make it to the bigs this quick, but he just keeps hitting.

Charlotte Knights: Stats: Player

He's a doubles machine. Plus, just 33 K in 57 minor league games. It's ridiculous to think that he could be our starting third baseman in essentially 2 months of action.

Watched him live last year at the CWS multiple times, it was obvious he was going to be something special. Easily the most impressive player in the CWS last year.

Completely agree, The White Soxs got a stud with that pick. I expect him to be in Chicago by the All- Star break for sure and maybe earlier if the White Soxs interleague schedule sends them to the NL first

i also watched him in omaha last summer. i thought he was better than average but i also knew that he wasnt showing everything. in the games i watched georgia play, he was just another catcher. but he must have been having bad days.

He was Georgia's shortstop, not their catcher.

I was thinking since he jumped over to 2nd this year from short that he is versatile and can play 3rd. What do you think he will do? We have Getz/Nix/Lillibridge at 2nd, Ramirez at short, and Fields/Betamit at 3rd.

I read an article a while back that said they would bring him up as soon as he felt comfortable playing 3rd. He would stay there this year but not for his career.

I'm kind of hoping they wait another year with him. I think Fields is showing progress and wouldn't like to see him traded quite yet. I always thought Josh was more of a first base prospect than anything and with Thome being doubtful for next year it would be a good time to have Fields and Konerko rotate at 1B/DH. But with Viciedo also being the future somewhere in the infield it might be best to include Fields in a trade for a pitcher sometime soon.

I thought you said, there was no way he was going to play 3b?

I meant there is no way he should play it long term. They're doing this cause they think they can win and they don't think Fields can hack it. Still think he's our 2B next year.

It's kind of like when we stuck Wesley Johnson at the 2. He didn't belong there but he got the job done when he should have been at the 3, but we needed him more at the 2.

Tonight with Betamit was just another example of why he needs to be in the majors ASAP...or maybe Fields will get out of his slump

Two words: Sample size. He hit well at AA, definitely worthy of a promotion but I don't know if he's ready for the MLB yet. There are definitely risks associated with a rushing a player too quickly. I'm betting he gets a promotion to the bigs but if I were a Sox fan I wouldn't count on great production this season.

If Gordon Beckham is in the majors before September, the Sox are desperate. I don't think it will happen.

I wouldn't either, but you can just kinda tell he's gonna be special. He looked damn good in spring training. I don't want to have to have him up this soon either, but he may force their hand.

3-3 with two doubles so far already tonight, back up to .500, aiming to best Jake Fox....

Wilson Betemit was just DFA. Gordon Beckham may be a White Sox by game time tomorrow.
