Google Search To Include Social Media, Forums, etc

When researching certain niche topics often times forums and reddit are the first and only worthwhile results, and it's been that way for as long as I can remember. How is this different?
I think the answer is "it depends". No search is the same and the validity and accuracy of content should in theory be the primary objective in getting results. Yes, you can get that from forums, social media, Tinder, etc - BUT, you also get answers and opinions from everybody and anybody.

To me, search results should have a primary focus on trusted sources first, and then pull in additional results. People are way too gullible and believe anything they read if it's posted as fact.

The reason I say it depends is I would agree that Reddit is often times my first resource - but it depends on what I'm trying to find the answer to. When it comes to medicine research for instance - I would much rather Google show results from trusted medical publications and resources like drugs.com, WebMD, etc over forum posts from somebody claiming to be a doctor.

I've been doing that for years, if you have a question odds are someone else has already asked it on Reddit. Much better answers than whatever the top sponsored result on google would be otherwise

Of course there are always exceptions

My name is Jack Whitver and I have to admit I've been a real piece of work and you don't deserve any of it. I'm selfish, egotistical, and knowingly hypocritical. I've wanted to keep this bottled up but the stress has been too much to bear.

Oh, and to my intern Stu last year, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to come on so strong. You were definitely the most resistant of the dozens of interns I've *tried* with.

Hopefully we can keep this just between us Cyclone fans.

I feel like search algorithms have been headed downward for a while. These days the best way to get an answer to a question is almost to make the search but then add "reddit" to the end
I now do all of my searches via perplexity.ai. This way I avoid 'Sponsors' and popular clicks which, for the most part, have bad information anyway. Plus it 'flows' better with forkable options as part of the answer.
