Looking forward to a good game this Friday. I see the Hawks starting out well, but ultimately fading and Hilton Magic taking over for the Clone victory.
Hawks need to shoot well and get Ejim and Niang in foul trouble. Clones need to shoot well and stay out of foul trouble. I think the bench strength of Iowa is overplayed by Iowa fans and underrated by Cyclone fans (if that makes sense). The one thing I like as a Hawk fan is that it gives us more options to go to if someone is "off" for the night.
At the end of the day I like that it's going to be good exposure for our state (even if it's only on ESPNU) and I think it's awesome that it's finally a game between two ranked teams. Regardless of who wins, it's going to go in the "good win" and "good loss" category for each school. Been awhile since that has been the case.
As opposed to football, I think there is legitimately room for both schools to be successful in basketball which is pretty cool. I don't really want to get into a football discussion, but I honestly don't think we'll ever be able to have two successful football schools just because of numbers.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a good, exciting, fast-paced game. Have experienced the Hilton crowd many times and it certainly makes a difference. Good luck.
