Cannot believe the isn't a thread on this.

We went to the 10:30 show that started at 11:15. Went down to Buzzard Billy for a few drinks before had a good time there. The standing in line was the worse part, got crazy at times. Once in everything was well ran. Always nice to run into Cyclone fans while having a beer and get their thoughts on everything.

Anyway. The show was better than expected. Granted there is the stuff you know he always does, but you can tell there were many parts of it that he does on the fly. You can tell he really enjoys what he is doing and respects his fans. The show went on for over two and a half hours and worth every min of it. Garth knows how to put on a show and make his fans feel welcome. I don't know how he can put on 2 shows like that a night. One if the best if not the best concerts I have been too, due to everything as a whole.

I was at the late one last night as well. By far the best concert I have ever been to. Incredible atmosphere and it was non stop for over 2 hours. Would love to be able to go again.

I love Garth and would absolutely enjoy one of his shows. But isn't there something kinda 'off' about putting on two close-to-identical shows in one night?

I am not really a county music fan. My wife wanted to go, so I got us tickets. Row 2 side stage. Rode the bus from the capital then waited in the lengthy line, but after the equipment line fiasco it wasn't that bad. She got a shirt, reasonably priced $25. I loaded up on $9 beers and found our seats. The show was way better than I expected, the 2.5 hours flew by. He is a hell of a showman and really voiced his appreciation of the crowd. Show ended @ 2am. The line to catch a bus back to the capital was gonna take forever, so we walked it. We got there before most and had no issues with traffic. I would go again and might stumble across some tickets for Sunday.

My wife took this with her phone.

I think he's has the ability to knock it out of the park in concert, even with non-country music fans. wish I was there.

Did you know Garth once won a Big 8 track & field meet throwing the javelin for Oklahoma St?

I will take 1 please

Was at the 7pm show last night. Section 117 half way up. Really good show there too. Great showman and seemed as if he was really enjoying the crowd. He did 12 songs then Trisha Yearwood came on and did 5 songs then Garth came back on and did 4 more songs, then an encore and then 3 acoustic songs, and then 2 more songs in the final encore. Total of 27 songs. I'd go back tonight for sure!

Actually doing close to identical shows helps because then it's easier to remember the lyrics. For singers it's like learning lines for a movie or play, when you practice the same songs over and over it helps in live performances. There have been times where singers do forget their own lyrics especially those artists who have a large catalog of songs.

The grateful deal, phish, widespread panic, etc would disagree with you.

I'm sure it helps him. But at what point does this cross over into theatre and no longer live music?

I dont like Garth. However, i saw him at Hilton years ago and he was really good in concert. Great entertainer.

Two thoughts:
1. Does it matter? It's not a special at the Met or anything.
2. If he's still singing, it's live music.

Sure, there are exceptions, but almost anyone doing multiple shows is going to repeat the same routine, whether they're musicians, comedians, variety acts, or whatever. It keeps things consistent for the performer and the whole crew.

So jealous of all who got tickets. I'm a big Garth fan and got to see him at Hilton, that show was great but probably pales in comparison to these DM shows.

It was just a question. As a live music fan, I value spontaneity and seeing a different show every time. I just think it's weird to have two shows in the same night. Something inauthentic about it to me.

Does it really matter if all the shows are exactly the same? It's still new to you. If, you want an "original" show, Garth would probably oblige for the right $.

Just from reading reviews of his shows tells me no 2 are exactly the same. People say he reacts to the crowd and what not so I don't think 2 shows back to back will be identical.

TRUE. At the end of each show he basically take requests. Picks some songs from the ones people have made signs for.
