Any way to statistically see how our Gameday crowd compared to others? Obviously there is no way to get an accurate attendance count, but I’d like to see how our crowd compared to all crowds before us- I was blown away when I looked back and saw people smashed in all the way to Sukup.

Something to note: there were way more people in the area for Corso donning the headgear than there was when the show kicked off.

When we got there we said to ourselves, we probably didn't need to get there at the ass crack of dawn. But by the end of it we we're glad we did.

While I think it was an amazing back drop for Game Day, it depends how you want to count "attendance". There were so many people trying to get glimpses on the outskirts as the space was a little limited.

You could have had bigger crowds in a more open space like central campus, but not nearly as great as an environment and visual backdrop as being near the stadium and tailgate lots.

After seeing how the set was set up days in advance, I think putting it on Central Campus would have been a circus at worst, and a massive inconvenience during the week at best.

Oh for sure, they picked the best possible spot they could have, and so glad they moved it from the original location.

I'm just saying in terms of attendance numbers, not ideal, but worked perfectly for all fans involved and represented the school in the best light. If you go the the ESPN GameDay thread on Reddit (r/cfb) you will see everyone agreed that Ames represented well, they said it was loud, announcers couldn't hear themselves, and the backdrop and drone shots looked great on TV.
